NHL Draft lottery III - Bruins locked into 5th before ping pong balls.

Not a great skater, not really a play driver from what I’ve seen but just my opinion. To me he’s been letting the guys on his line do most of the work with the puck and his role has been more of a facilitator with the play going through him instead of him making plays. I haven’t seen a ton of footage on him so I could be wrong. Production dropped off a little bit second half of year and looked a step or two behind at wjc.

I have watched him play around 10 games this year.
His skating is fine.
Bigger players ( he is 6ft 3) will not look as fast as smaller players.
Does he have Eklund break away speed, no.

He is not Dave Andreychuk or Justin Brazeau slow.
His stickhandling, shot, hockey IQ and passing are excellent.

I would rate his " pace", defensive game and overall skating ability as average.

Kid is a great prospect and deserves to be drafted in the top 5.
His leadership qualities are A1.
He has 96 goals in 195 games played, he can score.

If you think you can improve his skills on the above, you take him, no question.

Your concerns could be valid but I wouldn't necessarily call them red flags. All these guys have strengths and weaknesses to some degree. Based on what I've seen I'd agree that he's not a great skater but his skating doesn't concern me either. Yazmybaby gave a better answer than I can give though and he's seen him play more than I have.

I am not blaming the kid, he was rushed, was not NHL ready, management f***ed up listening to fans like you who needed their new shiny toy to admire. As far what he has done in the AHL, proves nothing, other than maybe he is a AHL player.

What a hilariously bad take. A late 2nd round pick putting up a ppg in the AHL as a 20 year old somehow doesn't impress you. Maybe they should've sent him back to junior for another year but his development is going fine.

Saw this tidbit on Facebook just now. A reminder of how the draft can go, one way or the other:

In the 1979 NHL Entry Draft, the Boston Bruins made a franchise-defining decision by selecting defenseman Ray Bourque with the 8th overall pick. This selection came from a first-round draft choice acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for goaltender Ron Grahame on October 9, 1978. Initially, Bruins general manager Harry Sinden had his sights set on defenseman Keith Brown. However, when the Chicago Blackhawks selected Brown just before Boston's turn, the Bruins chose Bourque, a decision that would profoundly impact the team's future.

Eyeing him I'm sure, the Kid has an abundance of talent, would be very happy if the Bruins came away with this kid.

NHLe is a formula that uses a prospect’s age, production and level of competition to project the chances he will become an NHL regular (defined as 200+ games played) and/or an NHL star (defined as 0.7 points per game for a forward or 0.45 points per game for a defenseman). According to Hockey Prospecting, Frondell runs away with the best NHLe in this draft class, with a 99% chance of becoming an NHL regular and an 89% chance of becoming a star. The only players with better projections from the last two drafts were Connor Bedard, Matvei Michkov, Macklin Celebrini and Ivan Demidov.

Frondell probably has the best shot in this draft class, including a rocket one-timer that he makes good use of playing on the right elbow on the power play. The idea of a Bruins power play with Pastrnak on one side and Frondell on the other is pretty tantalizing

Every team is doing their sue diligence and should, while this draft seems to have a clear #1 and a likely #2. There is a ton of scouting work to do still

Yeah both Frondell and Misa would be a power play boon as a shooter opposite Pasta.
