Our prospect pool is awful right now so I don't mind picking a safer player here since we desperately need him at C now and in the future.

We have 2 2nds and 2 3rds tomorrow so we have picks available to try and take higher risk players or move up.

Needed a centre. They probably wanted Thomas, maybe even Chytil. Just be happy it wasn't Hague. Don't care for Frost or Bowers much either who went right after.

Hague is goooooooood. Carlo was picked #37 in his draft year, some team will end up with a Carlo type steal in the 2nd by picking Hague. Ditto for Timmins.

I honestly can't believe either of those guys fell out of the 1st round.

I will I told you so when he never develops beyond a third line guy at best, but i will be putting my attentions to the boom picks they make in this scenario.

Starting to think I don't like Trevor Timmins anymore. His picks are starting to be redundant. No offensive guy. When we have one(Sergachev), we send him away. Drouin is skilled but still. Our core is not winning any playoff rounds and our prospect pool is absolutely filthy. In the bad way.

thats why I love this board... scouts spend hundreds of hours watching prospects for a living and we sit on our couch thinking we know better.

There are easily more savvy hockey experts amongst our group then the actual scouts under the employ of the Habs. Remember, to become a scout you pretty much have to grind it out on the road in junior leagues living out of motels.

Unless you are prepared to have no wife or children, or house or money for 5+ years and a bit of luck with some picks that might have pulled through, you'd end up wasting away top earning years.

Im not sure about you, but i took the "get educated" and "get a good paying job" route. As with many posters here.... so I trust some posters in here with better analysis than what the habs scouts provide or even pick. Ever wonder why bargainbin doesnt even have a university education?
