If Zadina drops, he's going to be one of those weird cases where he's high on everyone's list, but gets stuck behind someone they like more.

Opinions on Tkachuk are probably a bit more varied.

I'm definitely on the 1 extreme with tkachuk and I'm fairly up front of that.

If both tkachuk and zadina magically are on the board.. I would move a metric ton to get the 10th pick as well

Lots of solid NHL talent on that list too. No team bats 100% on their draft picks. McIlrath pick still stings bigtime though, oh what could have been...I think Tarasenko or Fowler gets us over the hump in 2014 or 2015

if it hadnt been locked so quickly (I understand why it was locked)

if anyone is planning to spend Saturday morning watching NHL Networks simulcast of Canadian coverage, be forewarned that, at least the last few years, it is NOT actually coverage of the draft

hosts are in the room, announcements are made behind them, but they don't report or discuss the picks, they mostly just chat about next season's outlook for the Canadian teams

the picks are displayed along the bottom scrawl but with delay

i have wasted the too many warm sunny draft saturdays the last few years, but wont bother this time

twitter and other sources will keep me apprised,
without anchoring my butt in front a tv,
getting annoyed waiting for anything at all of interest to come up ...

2 busts of 10 picks until now. Really solid record.

I think you have to start from 2005 because there was a fundamental shift in the organization. You could even argue that it started in 2004, but it's easier to go post-lockout.

Any of those options at 9 are good imo. Would prefer Hughes or Tkachuk if possible, would even be willing to move up a spot or two to snag either, but not much more than that.

Would also really love if we could get Lundkvist somehow.

This was the first draft I cared about enough that I was planning on paying attention to day 2, it's really not broadcasted anywhere? why do they advertise that it's going to be on?

Getzlaf was seen as a total passanger on his lines in junior. Fowler is whatever, we had a lot of v young OFD at that point. Tarasenko is a legit gripe, as was iirc Dustin Brown and Parise.

Yes, under that scenario, Hughes, Dobson and Bouchard all went in the first 8 picks, along with Dahlin, Svechnikov and Kotkaniemi.

As a result, at least one of Zadina, Tkachuk and Wahlstrom is guaranteed to be on the board at 9.

The questions were about the offensive ceiling, whether he was better on the wing or at center, and whether he was too much of a point A to point B player.

Andrew Ladd was sometimes (incorrectly) seen as being a passenger on that team. Ironically enough, he was my guy for 2004.

I was very passionate about the Calgary kids in 2003 and 2004.

Brooks all but confirmed my sinking suspicion that Boqvist probably isn't on their list.

Not that anything he said was a smoking gun, but it did fall in line with what I wasn't hearing and starting to fear.

Regardless of our recollections, no one thought Getzlaf would be what he became. If he was 6'1 and not 6'4 he's not a 1st. He was a size draftee and one of the few that panned out, but here we are. Remember this is Michael Rasmussen, the size draftee of 2017, pans out. Because no one thinks he will aorn. Michael Rupp was a top 10 size guy and afaik he never even scored 10 goals. We all know nothing.
