I’d rather have Zadina. If Tkachuk is there at 9, I’m taking him. But I’m not giving up an asset to get him.

I wouldn't be upset with zadina iver tkachuk...but tkachuk is my guy...I'd trade up to 3 just to get him.

I get the feeling if the Rangers do trade up, by combining some picks, they are going to look back in 3 or so years and see they could have drafted at least one player with one of those picks who individually is way more valuable than what they traded up to get.

I'm voting for them to just keep their picks where they are and go with whoever they feel is the best player available at that spot. If even by dumb luck it turns out one of those picks in hindsight would go much earlier in a hypothetical redraft in a couple years that is a big win in my book as it would mean one of #9, #26, #28, should have gone much earlier and it's still likely the other picks value out about where they should.

I think we've had two busts out of our last 10 first round picks.

Most observers would say that our work drafting and our developing from 2005-2012 was among the top 1/3 of the league.

I think as a board we tend to dwell on this busts and so there's a perception that there's more of them.

Most of the guys who bust...we all saw the bust coming a mile away.

McIlrath is pretty glaring.

Sanguinetti we saw coming, but I also don't think anyone was particularly pining for the guys who went 23-30 that year either.

To me, I tend to go post-lockout.

When you start going back pre-lockout, and 15 years, you're talking a very different Rangers organization.

That's like approaching the 2003 draft, and going back to the Rangers drafting in the late 1980s. Very different game, very different organization.
