Curious what your take on Dach is. You've always been knowledgable in the prospects and I've only seen a handful of videos so my sample size is not the greatest but everything about Dach looks so slow! And I'm not even comparing his speed to the speedsters in the draft like Turcotte and Newhook. He just does everything slow like he's playing at a Division 2 NCAA level. Maybe he's just one of those 'little wasted energy' types but it's really hard to assess that without watching every one of his games from this season. Or maybe you have a link to a good video that I might have missed.

Dach isn't all that different from Hayes in the sense that he isn't a speed demon, but his size and style make it look slower on video. Particularly when compared to seeing him in-person.

My issues with Dach haven't been about skating, so much as putting all the pieces together. Last year he was good, but I was left wanting more. This season he came flying out of the gate and then slowed down a little --- which is understandable.

But overall, I've always believed that Cozens and Dach are really close, as are Turcotte, Zegras and Newhook. I have the former two slightly ahead of the latter three, but they're all clustered pretty close together.

It’s still very early, and I probably wouldn’t think anything of it otherwise, but maybe Gordie and company might’ve been on to something when they said they though Kravtsov was the second best forward in the draft

It also depends on how one defines best, aka upside vs. probability, pure skill vs. in-game ability, etc.

The argument was made that Kravtsov and Denisenko were right up there with any forward in the draft from a pure skill/talent level.

THIS argument is had every year before and after the draft

Just ran Tankathon once. Landed 2nd overall pick. 28th (WPG) and Tampa wins the cup. Ideal scenario.

Just ran it myself...

Are there any defensemen in the back end of the first round that people are familiar with? We've got a lot of decent blueliner prospects but no real blue-chip top pairing guys.

I think our number one hole is at the upper end of the defense, and this is not a good draft for going defense in the first 10 picks. Does someone like Broberg have top pairing potential?

The two kids from the blueline factory in Kelowna: Kaeden Korczak and Lassi Thomson. Hard to project late 1st or early 2nd round picks as blue-chippers, but they're both very good RHD prospects.

Thomson is the explosive, "modern" defensemen who can rush the puck, make tape-to-tape stretch passes, and be a producer on the power play. He has a great compete level and smooth skating stride. Came over from Finland this summer and just seems to get better and better as the season goes on. I think he could sneak into the 20-25 range.

Korczak is the game-manager. He's not spectacular in any facet but can play all situations. I like him a little more right now heading up ice than defending the rush coming at him, and I think his pivots are a little sloppy; his hips get a little wild and he seems off balance sometimes. But I like the tools and it's easy to project him as a potential top-4 D. I see him in the 28-35 range.

I haven't seen enough tape on Broberg to really comment, but I know a lot of people think he has top-pairing potential and have him as the 2nd best D prospect in the draft.

There are some interesting defensive prospects who will go in the first round.

Broberg, Soderstrom, York, Harley, Robertson, etc.

Each had their own level of intrigue, and some even have higher-end offensive skills.

But I’m also of the mindset that there’s Byram, and there’s everyone else.

And I’ll say that Byram might be one of, if not the most underrated draft eligible on our board.

Would be very happy with him with any pick other than 1 or 2

I think he’s fair game starting at 3. And knowing that the Devils are picking ahead of us, with Ty Smith already in tow, does not please me. I hate the thought of both guys on the Debbies.

Then they'll unretire Brodeur and go on to win 3 more cups.... Just the way things go for the Rangers

Has the date for the NHL lottery been revealed? A quick google search revealed nada, but figured I would ask here...ready for this season to be over and to find out where we land!

looking at our forwards now and in the near future, i see no need for byram when quite possibly we can maneuver for 2 impact forwards in a forward heavy draft.

for comparison sake, where would the following forwards rank compared to our current forward prospects now ?

cozens
dach
turcotte
boldy
newhook
kaliyev

i see most of our top prospects are defensive. shesty and a bunch of dmen look like we in good shape there. k'andre, lindqvist, rykov and libor. all look like solid top 4 upside guys. weve got 44 and 77 plus 76 right now on roster. all young guys who are playing right now.

do we need another dman ?

look at the forwards ? kravstov and thats it. LA and chytl are here and both have some concerns. howden ? jury is still out. after that, its whatever is below barren.

so lets draft bowen byram. ????

for me, its 2 forwards in this forward heavy draft.

Simply stated they have to go by their board, BPA

We certainly need a #1 Dman, which I don't think any of our prospects project to be.
Even if Miller becomes at #1, what is wrong with having two of them? Between Bowen and Miller, they can cover the left side for virtually the entire game.

really ?

so please explain pick 39 last draft ?

our forward pool is shallow to say the least.

adding say, cozens and kaliyev deepens it.
I am telling you my view. I would presume that it was theirs as well when they made it. I happen not to agree with that one either.

Really no different than choosing Kravstov. I was screaming for Dobson. Most of the world thought that they would hear him or Wahlstrom. But Clark choose the BPA. It was BPA for him, clearly not for me at the time.
