Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Waiting for the Draft Lotto

Pretty locked in on Martin. Hope he's still available and doesn't get picked 9th.

I'm honestly kinda doubting he makes it to #11. O'Brien and Martin seem to be risers that probably go in the 7-10 range.

I think their 1st will end up one of Eklund, McQueen or Mrtka. Which at this point I wouldn't mind taking the swing on McQueen with their pick falling.

No you're just a moron. How does 2 teams with better records than the Penguins winning the draft lottery mean that they should have lost more down the line?

Had they lost more and finished with the #6 pick, they would have still dropped 2 spots to be picking #8 because of the lottery today.
And 8th is better than 11th. Strange concept.

What a wasted f***ign season.

Too bad to make it and too f***ing stubborn to tank.

f*** you Dubi
f*** you Sully
f*** you anyone who isn't pissed about the winning streak

f*** everything
If I hadn't been on this board so long I'd think you were literally born yesterday. There is no way to guarantee outcomes in hockey and anybody who has watched it for more than 2 months will learn that.

I’m still praying for Eklund but we’re so cooked if we’re talking about Lakovic

I think Lakovic is only in play if the Penguins trade down, I think most places have him in the 17-22 range.

My bet at this point would be that they get to pick 2 out of Eklund, McQueen, Mrtka, Smith, Bear and Kindel. I think O'Brien and Martin go before their picks but they're still left with at least one of Eklund, McQueen or Mrtka with most of the rest of guys projected in the 12-16 range.

At this point, I'm probably hoping Eklund and McQueen. That requires Mrtka and one other guy going in the top-10 to push those two down, so I think it's possible.

Welp, that blows.

Anyways, picking 11th will still add a great prospect to the system. And like every year, prospects inexplicably drop for reasons only the selecting teams have.

The draft will be fun, there will be trades, and I expect this will push Dubas towards more of a sell off and kind of a traditional rebuild, instead of a more current retool. The winning streak at the end of the season doesn't happen if Dubas trades off or doesn't call up, the players that helped cause it.

Anywhoozelbee Sullivan is still gone!!!

Which is why your post is stupid. Responding with "they should have lost more" to the #10 team and the #14 team winning the draft lottery is pure idiocy.

They were closer in the standings to picking #1 (3 more points to jump the Islanders) than they were to picking #6 (5 fewer points to fall below the Flyers). It was effectively impossible for them to pick higher than #6 due to how the draft lottery played out.
It's so sad that you can never just admit when you're wrong.

Pensburgh is insane now. Their takeaway

“Thus, the Pens early in their rebuild learn a tough lesson first-hand: with these lottery draft rules it becomes impossible to count on a bad season parlaying into a top draft pick. Unlike 20 or 40 years ago, just being bad doesn’t guarantee much, and this year was an especially unfortunate draw for the worst teams in the league with two longshots winning the lottery...But it was really close to happening for the Pens tonight, had only that fourth ball ended up getting drawn a little differently.”

the 2 worst teams in league have top 3 picks?

The tough lesson is “be even worse“

Changed my mind, Martin sucks. DND. Character issues. No skills. Zero upside.

Yeah it honestly sucks because I was hyping myself into Martin so much but it seems like the lottery loss puts them out of reach with him. It's still possible because Martin is being mocked more in the 11-13 range from what I've seen, but he seems like the kind of guy that's going to get overdrafted.

They were closer to picking 1st overall than they were to picking 8th overall in the standings with how the lottery panned out. Based on the lottery, you should be wishing that they won another 2 games.

Yes? No? Not really? Maybe?

I get what you're saying about winning more and I get what others are saying about "should've lost two more games". But there's no guarantee that doing either would've resulted in the lottery balls bouncing in the exact same minute way to get the same draft results.

It just is what it is.

Somebody tell them the Pens were 9th last not bottom 2.

If you could tweet that a couple times, that would be great.

From Scott Wheeler, I believe.

I'll go on record as saying I think McQueen is going to be a bust, and is the only guy I'd really be pissed if they took. Mrtka is big and boring as f*** but he's probably a safe bet to be an NHLer.
