Like, if you're in love with McQueen because of his size and talent, just take Lakovic. He's very similarly talented, similar size, doesn't have terrible skating issues, and doesn't come pre-packaged with a potentially chronic back injury.

I'll go on record as saying I think McQueen is going to be a bust, and is the only guy I'd really be pissed if they took. Mrtka is big and boring as f*** but he's probably a safe bet to be an NHLer.

I'm more inclined to think about McQueen at #11 than I was at #9, to be honest. I think McQueen vs Eklund/Martin/O'Brien and McQueen vs Smith/Kindel/Lakovic are 2 different debates that make me have different conclusions.

Still hoping Eklund falls to #11 but McQueen is much more in play for me at #11 than he was at #9 IMO.

Depending on how the draft unfolds, the Pens could be in trade back territory, too. Dubas has a history of doing it to acquire more assets.

I don't think they'd drop back far, but if they can drop back a pick or two, still get a player they value, and get an extra pick to use for player acquisition down the road, I wouldn't be surprised if Dubas looks at it.

Does Utah keep the pick, or trade it for an established player that helps them now? Or is the 4th going to quickly become that caliber player anyways?

1 - NY Islanders - Schaeffer
2 - San Jose - Misa
3 - Chicago - Hagens
4 - Utah - Martin
5 - Nashville - Martone
6 - Philadelphia - Desnoyers
7 - Boston - Frondell
8 - Seattle - Mrtka
9 - Buffalo - O'Brien
10 - Anaheim - Smith
11 - Pittsburgh - Eklund
12 - NY Rangers - McQueen

Best case?

Maybe consult with Nubs?
It's my general assumption that it's every HFBoards poster's dream to have my PM them wanting to talk about my man-meat.

He probably will but we need high end players…not more lottery balls lol..

They feel like a team that might actually trade down in a more win now move tbh. But it happens so rarely and I don't have any idea who would want to jump up, or what they'd pay. Might literally come down to draft day.

No. He sucks.

But in all honesty he reminds me of mantha or lavoie. Not a fan at all

Yeah on Lakovic vs McQueen, McQueen in his draft-1 year nearly matched Lakovic's production in his draft year. You absolutely go McQueen over Lakovic if both are sitting there.

I do think the best case scenario is McQueen goes before their pick and it pushes someone down to #11 and #12 for them. Eklund and Martin is who I want, but Eklund at #11 and Mrtka at #12 seems to be more realistic. There are always like 2-3 guys drafted in the top-10 that weren't mocked as top-10 picks before the draft, so I think it's reasonable to say that 2 of Eklund, Mrtka and McQueen will be available at both #11 and #12.

 We're just never gonna agree on McQueen. I don't care if the guy has impressive puck skills. The constant mentions of his skating issues and his back situation make him an absolute non-starter for me.

Maybe he makes me eat a ton of crow some day but I would rather trade down than take McQueen.
