Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs you're on the clock

I see this draft as very similar to 2021. A lot of bunch of similar rated players between 10 to 60. The key is finding the next Wyatt Johnston/Matthew Knies in that bunch.

As of now I’m cheering for Carbonneau and Reschny. The latter measured 5’10.75 at the combine and he’s basically 190 lbs. not ideal but at 5’11 you’re not overly small
I was thinking two of Bear, Reschny, or Kindel, but I'm warming to Carbonneau because of his shot. This team does not have enough elite shooters. We need both another center who could map to a 2C and a forward with a laser (with size as well).

Predicting the 1st 32 and to whom they get picked by...................as Toe Blake used to say, predictions are for gypsies!! lol

It just takes 1-2 guys off the board, and there goes the neighborhood............let the chips fall guys....

For me, no way the habs make 12 selections.............they will be making a couple of trades. 9-10 picks max......

Lakovic is the softest 6'4 top porospect I have ever watched in 30 years of watching prospect. Even his "hard hits" are soft touch. Very frustrating to watch such a talented and large player playing so often on the periphery. He is not just playing small, he is playing scared. His game kind of reminds me Blake Wheeler but on the softer side.
Well, there wasn't a bunch of 6'4' prospect players in those 30 years. Just to say...

Its a top 12 draft. Thats why everyone after the top 12 is trying to trade their first
Who are your top 12? To me it looks like a good tier in the early mid teens. We should have a handful of good options when our pick comes around. I think the question is whether the guys who fall to us will be what we’re looking for. Don’t see us taking a smaller forward nor any LDs.

Schaefer
Misa
Martone
Hagens
Frondell
Desnoyers
Eklund
McQueen
Bear
Mrtka
Martin
OBrien

I think Smith and Bear are switched in the scouting sphere when they say top 12 tho

Not the best draft, but it's still alright, we'll have a chance at drafting NHLers with every pick, as usual, and we have a shitload of them in the first 4 rounds. And if those picks after the 'Top-12' were that bad, they couldn't get anything from them, those 16-17th picks are fine.

It's a 'depth' draft, and depth is a dire need, especially at F, which there's plenty in this particular one, big ones too.

I just find that there's no real guys that i think can hit and be something truly special in that range. Its all guys with 2nd line or 2nd pairing upside who will fill roles but not necessarily key and vital roles.

I like the middle rounds more because I think a guy like McKinney could really pop, but his floor is very low too.

For sure, and I can almost guarantee there will be a guy who’s available at 16/17 who ends up better than a handful of this supposed top 12. We just have to take the right guy. Carter Bear could be the guy, I definitely like his all around game and think he’d be a nice fit in our top 6 on a line with Demidov. Lakovic could be that guy, he’s got a ceiling that rivals most of the top 10, just needs to grow into his body and realize his size. There are a couple D and smaller guys who could be those players, but I’m hoping for Bear and Lakovic. Bear is that sure shot NHLer who you win with in your lineup. Lakovic is that dice roll for star upside.

Looking at our prospect pool, we still need those guys, I mean, a 2nd liner is still a top-6 player, a 2nd pairing D is still a top-4, something we may really get with 16/17, and I hope we manage to get a score of them to revamp our depth with the remaining picks, 9 picks in the first 4 rounds is great, we may not pick with all of them (I doubt it), but unless Bobrov/Lapointe shit the bed, we're bound to get some.

We do need those guys, im simply saying its not a very sexy draft in our range so I'm not exactly nervous about anything other than hoping Bear drops.

I dream of the day we'll have 'too many' prospects that are nearing the NHL, so much so we may trade some to get better players, exactly like the best teams have been doing for a while.

I mean aren’t we looking for 2nd liners and 2nd pair guys? Need guys who can potentially pair with Demidov, that’s priority one. Priority two is find some right handed Dmen to develop but that can be done later on. If we keep both firsts, I’d swing for two forwards and just need one to really hit.

Cole Reschny I really like but not sure we can fit in another smaller guy, but damn he could be special. Carbonneau got some skills too. Lakovic, Bear… there are gonna be some options for us and I’m completely ignoring the D round 1 lol

We are, its just not sexy as a draft enthusiast. It feels like the Guhle draft where I didnt have a guy I was pounding the table for. Other than hoping Bear drops.

I hear ya, guess that’s the downside of getting good again lol

Still think there’s upside available for us. Bear, Lakovic, Reschny, Carbonneau… I’ll take two of them on a line with Demidov.

It would mean a lot to me. Montreal is a great place to play, that’s for sure. The fans are passionate. Some might say they’re crazy sometimes, but I think I’m ready for it. I know the atmosphere at the Bell Centre is incomparable. It would be a dream come true.” - Lynden Lakovic

Always take Reddit "sources" with a grain of salt, but I'm not interested in Lakovic
