I’d be happy with either but not sure I’d want both. Give me one high upside winger, either Lankovic or Carbonneau. With the other pick, assuming Bear is also gone, either Reschny or a D like Hensler I guess. Getting 2 or those guys would be a solid haul.Ugh that Mckenzie final rankings is going to hurt us.
Shit we'll end up with Carbonneau and Lakovic.
let's trade one of those picks unless someone falls....

If we can walk away with Lakovic and Hensler, most here will be smiling in two years. Regrettably, unless Hughes moves up, both will be long gone by 16/17 OA . I wouldn’t sleep on Potter who looks like a Cooley clone. We could do far worse at 16/17 OA.Looking increasingly likely we will be able to draft Bear.. will be a question of Lakovic/Cootes/Hensler/Fiddler/Reid for the other pick imo.
I think if Montreal doesn't take him, Lakovic may fall to the mid 20s like Greentree didIf we can walk away with Lakovic and Hensler, most here will be smiling in two years. Would you package all our picks to move up for Desnoyers or Martin?I just find that there's no real guys that i think can hit and be something truly special in that range. Its all guys with 2nd line or 2nd pairing upside who will fill roles but not necessarily key and vital roles.
I like the middle rounds more because I think a guy like McKinney could really pop, but his floor is very low too.
Agreed. I think 1 pick should be BPA among forwards (likely a winger like Carbonneau) and then the 2nd pick should be the best C or RDI’d be happy with either but not sure I’d want both. Hoping we sign Bennett, not sure if that’s in the cards, but guess we could trade for someone as well.
Going to be an interesting week!
Wouldn't Cootes be too similar to Beck? To spend a first on. A mid line right shot centerDoes Bob McKenzie’s rankings drop tomorrow? Personally I’d like any of Martin, Martone, Mrtka but unless Hughes can pull a stunner they won’t be available when we draft. Bear and Cootes could help with skill and some added physicality to our prospect pool. Going to be a fun week.
Right now, things point to Will Horcoff being taken in the late 1st round. Habs would have to trade down or trade up.Engels article in which he predicts Habs will draft Will Horcoff (not necessarily in the 1st round).
Unless Jackson Smith or Mrtka slip to 16th, I'd be inclined to draft two forwards in the first round. I'd go Lakovic and Carbonneau or Cootes or West or whoever is the high upside forward still available. If we can walk away with Lakovic and Hensler, most here will be smiling in two years. Uh, no.Would you package all our picks to move up for Desnoyers or Martin?
This is a deeper draft than many believe. Frankly, the talent we can garner at 16 and 17 OA may, in the accumulative, be more impactful for the team than the higher pick that so many here are pining for.Would you package all our picks to move up for Desnoyers or Martin?
many good players have slipped down in the past. if your scouting is good that is so keyThis is a deeper draft than many believe. Frankly, the talent we can garner at 16 and 17 OA may, in the accumulative, be more impactful for the team than the higher pick that so many here are pining for.
Different time with different concerns about Russian players. Not a comparable.many good players have slipped down in the past. if your scouting is good that is so key
Detroit made a practice of getting guys like that
Zetts
Pavel D

I'd still try to move up to 14th OA this year by giving up the 16th OA this year and next year's 2nd round pick back to Columbus.
Might make a difference.
I'd trade the 17th OA + Mailloux + Matheson (50%) for Rasmus Andersson with an intent to sign a 7-year extension at 7.5M per season.
I'd package this year's two second round picks and (41st OA and 49th OA), plus our 79th OA (3rd rounder)for alate first rounder and trade that + Kapanen + Engström for Zacha.
That's how I see it. Try to get two high-ceiling forwards at 16 and 17. I'd be happy with two of Reschny, Bear and Carbonneau (they may have an inch or so to grow as well as muscle up another 10-15 lbs as pros). Go with the top hockey minds or elite tools. I can live with Lakovic, but lukewarm about his compete level. I feel that there will be a suitable RD or big-bodied forward at 41, 49 and in later rounds.I mean aren’t we looking for 2nd liners and 2nd pair guys? Need guys who can potentially pair with Demidov, that’s priority one. Priority two is find some right handed Dmen to develop but that can be done later on. If we keep both firsts, I’d swing for two forwards and just need one to really hit.
Cole Reschny I really like but not sure we can fit in another smaller guy, but damn he could be special. Carbonneau got some skills too. Lakovic, Bear… there are gonna be some options for us and I’m completely ignoring the D round 1 lol
I’d rather have Moen in the playoffs than Barzal. You should have picked a better example than the guy that just holds on to the puck and skates around the zone 3x on the PP. Barzal is awfulOh god
People's fascination with extra inches is gonna get us stuck with future Travis Moens instead of future Matthew Barzal's
They're not related AFAIKso many areas for KH to try.
I say we pick both and one is carbo's boy
Lucky for us, NHL teams do not base their rankings from this list!Ugh that Mckenzie final rankings is going to hurt us.

I would for Schafer. Watching Bob McKenzie last night he reeks character. hard to believe Schafer is only 17 years old. He talks like somebody 35. Can tell by watching him play his skill is of a Quinn Hughes or Makar. Just can't get those kind of guys. Tkachuk caliber of player. Great leadership and skill. This is a deeper draft than many believe. Frankly, the talent we can garner at 16 and 17 OA may, in the accumulative, be more impactful for the team than the higher pick that so many here are pining for.
Those are the four forwards I’d be looking at as well. Kinda souring on Lakovic after hearing the rumours of that suspension. The EP video on Carbonneau has me heating up on him as well, think his collection of tools are being vastly overlooked. He could be the complete package. That's how I see it. for Carbonneau it seems the biggest negative is that he tries to do too much and won't be able to force things as much at the NHL level. But I think those are easily coachable issues, and by virtue of having NHL linemates he's simply not going to be a puckhog. I can't imagine him being so clueless as to not use his linemates. I admit I didn't know much about him until recently, but Carbonneau's potential and how he would fit into our team is very enticing. Those are the four forwards I’d be looking at as well.
