Prospect Info: Draft 2025 Habs your on the clock

I would definitely be open to trading both picks if the right deal comes along, I feel like players available with those picks will be too far away from playing in the NHL

I do but it's unpredictable after the top 9. I could say Brady Martin but he's gone at 10.
this is just for fun.
I know its easier after the draft is over, but interesting what we all see in guys
dont worry you wont be held to the name you like if the habs dont get him

I like Martin too
or
Desnoryers flashy not sure on this grit though

yes
Steve McQ is interesting forsure

very bad inj's?
Roger has spondylolysis, which is kind of a stress fracture of the pars articularis of a lumbar vertebrae we see in young, active people.

Prognosis is excellent. Nothing to do with a symptomatic herniated disc like Lindstrom (I had Lindstrom has a DND in the top 10 last year even if he was a consensus top 5 pick for that reason)... But there is no zero risk...

I'd say the risk is worth it here.

I'd not hesitate to trade up to 9-10 if he's still there.

Habs can't trade both 1sts away in the same, or separate deals unless they're for players like 22.

The prospect pool has Hage and Reinbacher and not much else that looks like they might be top 6/top 4.

Habs need to keep 1 first and 1 2nd to add to that pool, or like I said, acquire some young players that are established and almost no one will trade.

Everyone is like WE MUST TRADE EVERYONE

View attachment 1027223

But personally i think we must be very cautious.

COuple of years ago NYI were in a very good spot. They had 22 years old Barzal, 27 years old Nelson, 29 years old Lee, 29 years old Bailey, 22 years old Beauvillier, 25 years old Devan Toews, 28 years old Leddy, 25 years old Pelech, 24 years old Pulock, 19 years old Dobson, 24 uears old Sorokin.

They got to the cup final in 20 and semis in 21. With Dobson, Sorokin, Barzal and good vets future looked bright. Then they decided to trade EVERYONE. Traded a 13th overall (Narzal) for Romanov. TRaded a 1st and Raty for Horvat. TRaded a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for Pageau, Traded two 2nd and a 3rd to dump Andrew Ladd's contract, Traded a 3rd for Engvail.

The end result? They have to rebuilt again 5 years later. KH must be very cautious. Don't trade everyone and make sure they players you acquire have at least 4-5 more years of prime left or are very cheap.
Isles did not make the final in 20...............that was TB and Dallas.

Matheson is the contract dump. And the two picks are in a garbage draft at a spot where all first two tiers of players will probably all be gone
Matheson is not a cap dump don't be silly. He has his flaws but there's one year remaining at 4.7 and he's a serviceable 4th dman for a team looking for a guy able to carry the puck and have a defensive RHD like Parayko to play with him.

Dude, Matheson is not a contract dump, he has 1 year left on his deal at 4.875. The problem is that he is not a top 2 defenseman playing in that role currently with us. Have him play minutes of a #4-5 and see how valuable he would become. That's why I think a top 3 defenseman is a must going forward along with a #2 center

I don't mean literally. He still has value which is why he's included in the trade and not someone like Gallagher or Laine. Contract dumb just refers to having to give back a contract

Yesh i forgot about the stupid covid tournament they played 22 games which usually means cup final (maximum of games played for a semis usually is 21), Did not really watch the playoffs during COVID.

Still made the semis two years in a row and had good kids and now they likely have to rebuild. Trading too many picks and young players would be stupid imo unless you can land an elite guy near the beginning of his prime.

I think he can be a really useful player for us next season if he is used properly and that's like a #4 with some pp2 time as well.. He cannot play as a #2 like he was asked this year, it's quite evident.

Also, we can't assume Reinbacher is ready to come in and play like a top 3, a lot of people are penciling him that way, I hope KH has him coming in as a #6 just for example, and whatever happens is gravy from there on out! That's how I would approach it

Desnoyers is firmly in top 5 discussion.
I like Martin but also think he will be gone.

It's like when Gallagher - Danault - Tatar was our first line. I was hoping there would be a day when they would be our 3rd line. I would be very happy with Matheson - Carrier as our 3rd pair, to say the least:

Hutson - Reinbacher
Guhle - UFA RD
Matheson - Carrier

Reinbacher is definitely going to be on the team but my money is on him starting in Savard old role as the partner to either Xhekaj or Struble. The problem is you don't want Hutson and Guhle on the same pair. Guhle should be in a shutdown role and Hutson shouldn't. Carrier can probably play with Guhle for now. But that leaves Matheson with Hutson which isn't ideal. So you pretty much have to play the same top 4 and just insert Reinbacher in for Savard which isn't ideal. I guess they can run it back for another year and Reinbacher will take away some minutes from Matheson as he's a huge upgrade on a retiring Savard while Huston and Guhle will also take a bit more minutes.

But if possible, Hughes needs to go get a top 4 RHD by latest next offseason and if it's this offseason, Matheson is the odd man out

Agreed.

That's my opinion anyways of both Newhook and Matheson, they're both useful IMO but not used in a way that they can keep up. Newhook is a 3rd liner ( not top 6 ) and Matheson is a #4-5 not a #2

When KH addresses that, we will be so much harder to play against and match up for the other team.

Cole Reschny be my pick. A Braeden Point type. Martin and Spence be solid picks also. Add some skill and grit for future.

If all three gone, I like Aitcheson, Cootes, Fiddler also.

Bear injury scares me. Lakovic too soft.
