Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Everyone is trading up, but no one seems to be trading down edition

This may not go over well here (because I know some are high on O’Brien) but if him and McQueen are sitting there at 11 (highly unlikely), I am taking McQueen.

O’Briens 5v5 production scares the hell out of me.

Asking prospects to break down video at least seems more worthwhile than weird "gotcha" questions, since thinking on your feet in an interview has next-to-no correlation to thinking on your feet in a hockey game.

It is WAY too early to cherry-pick a stat like that. The kid is 17. We WANT 17-year-olds with power-play prowess. It does not mean he will suck in perpetuity at even strength.

The things I hear when people talk about O'Brien are exactly why I want him. He slows plays down. Yes, we want that! That means he is a better thinker of the game than his peers. Those are generally the best players.

He has projectable size and arguably the best hockey IQ in this draft. Plus he is a center.

Sign me up.

O'Brien is my want for months. But will I take a shot with a RH big center like McQueen, of course if healthy. I am hopeful the Pens get the Rangers pick so Dubas has some flexibility here.

This is very much an overreaction. It's basically one season. Oh, F.... McQueen. he can have much worse issues than O'Brien scoring on the PP.

where we are picking there are a lot of warts to go around.
I wouldn't call being able to produce on the PP a wart.

If they're both sitting there at 11, I'm taking JO'B and trading back with the 12th.

Agreed. JOBs 5on5 doesn’t scare me necessarily but McQueen has higher ceiling imo.

Am I the only one intrigued by Bear? I'm not all that knowledgeable on prospects but I haven't heard his name all that much.
Bear started the season highly productive and even then I know plenty were skeptical of his offense translating into the NHL. Then he slowed down considerably in the 2nd half of the season. Then he got injured. Krebs had the same injury with many suggesting it permanently affected his mobility. No idea if it is true or not, but there are a number of question marks surrounding Bear at #11/12.

Judging players based on production in juniors is not the appropriate way to evaluate them. You 100% take O'Brien over McQueen because O'Brien has elite traits (playmaking/hockey IQ) that suggests he could have a super high upside, while McQueen doesn't really have that.

I really have no interest in McQueen. Back issues at this age and body type just screams bust to me. His tape didn’t impress me either.

You say this like it’s some fact. Based on what?

I meant that as in I think Eklund and Aitcheson seem like the most likely duo to be available at the Penguins pick of the McQueen, Eklund and Aitcheson trio, just based on mock drafts. It was bad wording on my part.

That doesn't mean the Penguins will take those two guys, it's just that those two are probably the more likely duo to be available at #11 and #12 than McQueen and Eklund or McQueen and Aitcheson.

Some posters on the prospects forum that seemed to have followed Reschny for a while said he was a hard working kid with good character so that is odd.
