Prospect Info: Draft 2025 - Everyone is trading up, but no one seems to be trading down edition

Seattle hopefully takes a defensemen, but that doesn't guarantee Eklund or Martin will fall to us. We need to try to move up!
Obviously nothing guarantees it, but statistically I think it's unlikely all three of O'Brien, Martin, and especially Eklund are gone top 10. Last draft to only have one defenseman go top 10 was 2006. Wingers in particular usually drop. That's why I think Martone and potentially Hagens might fall later than many believe as well.

We don't pick 10th though, we pick 11th. Hell if we picked 9th OA that would be helpful. I would just hate for all three to be gone right before we pick. Honestly I think that's how it's trending.

That's why I said "top 10" and not '#10.' This happens every year. Wingers that are highly rated on consensus BPA rankings lose draft spots because teams do not draft based on BPA. They will draft based on organizational needs and in some cases I understand it. Centers followed closely by right defense will get priority. Because those are the hardest to acquire outside of the draft.

You're relying upon a lot of variables there where you have no control. I'd prefer we try and have a say in this and move up. Again, if all three are gone, right before we pick, that'd be a huge punch to the gut. Damn that lottery!

Aitcheson, Smith, Mrtka, Lakovic and McQueen should all be shot into the sun regarding 11th OA. No, No HELL NO!
I see the concern with McQueen, especially his tendency to try and Superman it, but I’m not as down on him as others.

But I definitely don’t want anyone whose main attribute is hitting.

Everyone other than Darche is relying upon variables they have no control over. It's a GUARANTEE a quality player will be available to Dubas after those three are drafted.

This year is all over the place. Your guess is just as good as mine, which is just as good as someone else's.

I think Martin will be long gone by 11. I think he is going top 5 now. Also, if NYI is trying to acquire No. 7 overall from Boston, you have to think that they believe Hagens will drop a bit.

In terms of coach bumps, you have to think OUR guy is going to get a bigger bump than their guy. We are going from an egomaniacal curmudgeon to a young, hungry teacher.

They are simply going from one curmudgeon to another. Yeah, give me the 2026 first please.

If they get 7 I think they could reasonably use that + other assets to get Hagens if he goes a couple picks before. This kind of stuff happens in the NBA all the time. After the top 2 I’ve seen the order of names shuffled around in a lot of ways.

Sure, but in the NBA slightly above average players get traded for 4 first-round picks and a 1st round pick swap, too.

It is a different world!!!

i think the biggest surprise we could see is martin falling in this draft. i just don't know how much weight the gm.'s and scouts are going to put in a small sample size, like us fans do. :dunno: but then it only takes one.

It is not that, it's the "Sam Bennett" effect. I am starting to believe the rumors of Utah taking Martin at 4.

Honestly I do feel Martin is rising too much. Even a month ago it seemed like most people were only giving him a small chance of being a 2C, most likely a fan favorite 3C. I feel like style and position is pushing him above his talent and he shouldn't be a top ten pick.

That said, if he's a 2C, he's worth it. And I have enough faith in Dubas (at least for drafting) and Clark that if they take him I'll get behind it. But I probably only at best would rank him #11 so I wouldn't be that excited.
