Looking at my list, made just before the draft, I would've taken:

3 - Kotkaniemi
35 - Addison
38 - A. Thomas
56 - Nordgren
66 - McShane*
71 - Zhuravlyov**
97 - Mascherin

*I was quite high on McShane and very surprised we got him at 97. Though he doesn't exactly look like a steal thus far.
**Zhuravlyov was my dark horse homerun pick. He's had a rough start to the 2018-2019 season... 0 points.
My list:
3rd Jesperi Kotkaniemi
35th Jared McIsaac
38th Jacob Olofsson
56th Ivan Morozov
66th Jakub Lauko
71th Niklas Nordgren
97th Slava Demin
123th Cole Fonstad
128th Kyle Topping
133th Blade Jenkins
190th Trey Fix-Wolansky

edit forgot one pick

Hopefully, the first four picks will play at NHL level. I am not convinced at all one of the rest will ever make it. I would had liked the Habs to take a chance on Saigon who is having a good season in the OHL

Didn't WTK have him top-5?
So did I, and many others. He's off to a slower start than expected, then again we are talking an 8-game sample size here. By the same token, Dahlin and Svechnikov have also had starts below expectations. Wahlstrom's still a hell of a prospect.

If the islanders make him available or Dobson I would be all over that.

Harris is having a good year too.

I remember him having like 3 pts in 2 games then 0 pts in the next 7 ?

I havent seen him play just basing from stats.

Stapley has a good year but they are late pick.

I thought we had steals in Hillis, McShane, Fonstad but they are pretty quiet.

I have, the production hasn't quite been there yet but it's really not because of him not playing well. He's been on the first pair for several weeks, which for a true freshman is real impressive. He's got a very offense oriented game , he loves skating with the puck. The points will come, it's only a question of time.

We should have kept that 4th second round pick and drafted Morozov imo. Dont like Hillis, a failed version of Point.

So far, at least statistically, doesn't seem like McShane, Hillis and Fonstad are developing as expected, yet they were the picks everyone got hyped about.

Reminds me a bit of the 2012 draft.

Relaxe they are like 20 games that have been played .. they have alote of time to developpe !

Yep but not the 1st time that a kid that just been draft had a slow start ! I'm not really concerned especially with Hillis

Yes, I know. And I'm generally a very, very patient guy.

It's just that this year has been quite disappointing as it looks like through the 2016 draft we are essentially hitting duds, again. I mean there is Lehkonen, but DLR, Big Mac, Scherbak, all look like misses, well DLR is gone.

Juulsen looks pretty good, but as a no.4 ceiling D. Now a no.4 D is nothing to sniff at, but we need top 3 Ds.

So now our medium term future is pretty much rolled into the 2017 and 2018 draft classes. While critical that we get a couple of top 6Cs out of it, that isnt enough, we need more top end guys.

Patience.

I know that.

It’s just funny how the more controversial pick have all looked better so far than the unanimously acclaimed ones.

Still super early and if we get 3 solid NHLers (not DLR types) out of the 11 picks it's a very good draft. We get caught up in best case scenarios for every prospect and often fail to remember how low the odds are for most picks.

We have one already in Kotkaniemi. Between Olofsson, Ylonen and the three CHL forwards (Hillis, McShane and Fonstad) let's hope it yields a player or two. Even more importantly one of Romanov and Harris panning out would be huge.

I have to go with pretty high end draft. Romanov looked better in CIBC Russia series. KOt well everybody knows he is future #1 center. Olofsson is he another DLR though\?

Glad we avoided this guy.
