Yeah, I think people were glossing over the fact that this was a short-term problem, not a long-term one for Dallas. It was only an issue if Robertson absolutely refused to budge and/or the arbitrator gave him a massive one-year deal. Instead, they came to a compromise, and now everyone is going to get what they want in Dallas.

Perhaps with this deal done it will loosen other things up, though Yzerman's departure may delay a decision on Dylan Larkin in Detroit.

They literally tried hard to acquire Jason Robertson as per Elliotte Friedman. Spezza went out of his way to say the vets on the team are really pushing for them to improve the team. Yes, that was the plan.

I thought new ownership might push them one way or another, but they seemed more concerned with their ECHL team I guess?
