Prospect Info: Down On The Farm (Ads and Glads)

Today's Ads lineup could be quite the spectacle? If Kemmel and Schaefer are still injured, with Svechkov, Hinostroza, and Bellows up (can he make it back for a 4pm game)... :(

They are playing in Rockford. You can get there by flying into Chicago and driving NW. Then the Admirals fly to Charlotte for 2 games, then go to Texas for 2 games. The 5 game road trip ties for the longest one of the season. It follows a 5 game home stand.

Since Kemell finished the game on Wednesday, I believe that he is not seriously injured.

Edit:
The Ads signed Anders Bjork. He has played 225 NHL games, mostly with Boston and Buffalo. Last year, he played 40 games for ROCKFORD!

Kemell is playing, as are 7 Dmen.

Kemell has been a target in Period 1. Baddock ran him over. Sandford for Roughing and a 10 minute Misconduct for throwing the puck at Kemell. Kemell received 2 minutes for Cross Checking Sanford. Rockford scored on a breakaway. Goal #2 was never seen by Murray. It was a chip into the zone when the IceHogs were going to change, and it went into the net. Goal #3 had a player pushed into Murray when Rockford scored. SOG 16-5 Rockford.

In Period 2, Rockford had two consecutive Icings waived off. Aaron Sims was really angry about the first one! The Ads lost the puck coming up ice after the second one and Rockford scored on their only SOG in the first 5 minutes. The wheels are coming off today! Rockford scores with 1:20 left. It is announced as a PPG. Aaron Sims says that it WAS NOT A PPG!. Lucchini was horse collared down to the ice and no call. Angello wanted to fight Sanford. Sanford refuses.
The SOG were 9-6 Ads, but the IceHogs scored two goals. I expect Rockford to goon it up in Period 3. That is how they play and why they are in 5th place, 5 points behind Milwaukee.

Period 3 had no goals scored. Three Misconducts were handed out and Ozzy had a fight. The SOG were 11-10 Milwaukee, but they were shut out, 5-0.

The PTO to Bjork should help, he's a potential 1st line veteran for the team. I guess he had a big shoulder surgery last year that he is now just recovered from, hence being unsigned at this late stage?

Despite what you'd think from his name, Anders Bjork was born in Wisconsin, played in Ann Arbor with the NTDP, and went to Notre Dame. The Preds might be keeping Hinostroza up the rest of the way? Bjork has 336 games so he's fully in "Veteran" status for the development rule. I think that would basically hold the Ads at their cap for veterans, if everybody was healthy and Hinostroza stayed with the Preds?

Rough count...

Bjork is V
Bellows is VE
Lucchini is just barely VE
O'Reilly is V
Gravel is V
Angello is also just barely VE

... any others I'm missing?

I checked out Kyle Marino. He has 169 AHL games, 139 before this season. Do the 46 ECHL games count against his total?

Scott Reedy has played 123 AHL games before this season, plus 35 NHL games, totaling 158 games.

Turner Ottenbreit has played 179 AHL games before this season, 64 KHL and 98 ECHL games.

My understanding is that you can play 5 veterans, not counting the goalie.

My understanding is that ECHL (or any pro league LOWER than the AHL) don't count. Nor do playoff games. Nor any games accumulated in the current season.

And that you can play 5 "veterans" ... i.e. in the "V" category above... with > 320 games, but you can play up to 6 by including "veteran exempt" players "VE" category above who have 261-320 games. So you could sneak in 6 skaters with the V+VE mix we have?
:dunno:

The Admirals won at Charlotte 5-2. They did it the hard way, scoring 5 goals in the third period!

Chrona was in goal. Alex Campbell scored a PPG and an ENG. I am so happy for him! He plays so hard every time he is in the line up. Tonight, he was rewarded.

The Ads scored 2 PPGs and 2 ENGs. They had 1 ES goal and missed on a Penalty Shot.

They play again at Charlotte on Wednesday at 6 PM CT.

Charlotte opened the scoring in Period 1. Kevin Wall (2) scored a SHG 80 seconds later with an assist to Jake Lucchini (12). About 12 minutes into Period 2, Ryder Rolston (4) scored unassisted, giving the Admirals a 2-1 lead. Charlotte tied the game about 5 minutes later.

In period 3, the Checkers scored at 90 seconds. Murray was pulled and the Charlotte scored an ENG with 21 seconds remaining to make it 4-2 in front of 6000 fans at the Bojangles Coliseum. The Admirals were outshot in the game 34-15, with 8 SOG in Period 3.

It is on to Cedar Park, Texas on Saturday at 7 PM CT and Sunday at 5 PM.

Might just be a bust but it also might be that he's just a finisher stuck on a team devoid of any playmakers.
The Milwaukee lineup the past month or two has definitely been extremely thin. More credit to Taylor that he's keeping them in the race. But it's not really a playoff-caliber group of AHL players there anymore either, after all the injuries and Trotz's efforts to thin it out. There have been some good additions with Rolston and others, but it's not enough. It would be understandable if Kemell's numbers dip or flat-line.

I'm not sure if you want to look at it as glass half-full or half-empty... but I am not sure 2 SOG per game is really where you want Kemell to be either? He has 64 in 32 games, which is still good for 3rd on the team. And not far below what he has averaged in previous seasons. But I would have thought he'd be even more of a "volume shooter" overall for his style of play? :dunno:

We have stolen Milwaukees top centers - Hino, Svech
Left Wingers - L'Heureux, Bellows
Dmen - Stastney, Wilsby, Blankenburg

Pair that with some injuries to guys like Schaefer who was taking some big strides and their group is hurting pretty bad.
The Ads signed LW Chase De Leo, who is 29 years old and has played 7 NHL games.

The Ads lead 1-0 at Texas after one period. The SOG were 8-7 Admirals. Cal O'Reilly (2) deflected a Gravel shot at 16:22 of the period. Chrona is in goal.
At 7.5 minutes of the period, the SOG were 3-0 Admirals.

In Period 2, Texas tied the game at about 15 minutes. Aaron Sims said the puck "took some crazy bounces". Kemell (9) scored 41 seconds later at 16:05, with assists to O'Reilly and Reedy. Kemell shot the puck past Hellberg's glove. The SOG were 7-5 Admirals and 15-12 overall.

Texas scored about 2 minutes in to tie.
Del Gaizo (3) scored about 4 minutes into Period 3, with an assist to Pavel, making it 3-2 Admirals. He too, shot the puck past Hellberg's glove. Seven minutes later, a Texas slap shot was going to hit Gravel in the face. He put up his gloves, the puck hit them and popped into the net. Chrona never saw it, making it 3-3.

Texas scored with 46 seconds remaining. It was their only lead during the game. The Stars won 4-3.

The Admirals are playing again at Texas. Murray faces Hellberg tonight.

After one period, Milwaukee leads 2-0. Angello (5) scored unassisted at 5:54. Rolston (5) scored at 7:58 with assists to O'Reilly (14) and Ozzy Wiesblatt (9). I believe that sets some kind of points record for Cal O'Reilly. The SOG were 14-3 Admirals.

No penalties have been called halfway through the game. Lucchini (9) just scored at 12:39 of period 2. The assists were from Kemell (11) and Matier (5). SOG are 6-6 so far.

Cal O'Reilly (3) scored an EN, SHG at 17:53 of Period 3 to make it a 4-0 win. The assist was to Kemell (12).
The Admirals were called for Too Many Men at 16:47. It was the only penalty of the game. Murray had 30 saves to be the #1 Star of the Game. Angello was the #2 Star and Rolston was the #3 Star.

That's a big win against a good team. Good for Murray against his former team.

I see Anders Bjork played. If he and De Leo are both at their former levels, then they are going to be big additions to the Ads. I don't know who is in charge of finding guys at that level, but those are both potentially 1st-line caliber AHL talent, so that's a big add for the team if they are still capable.

Rolston also seems to have been a good addition.

Should be Scott Nichol making those decisions.

Gravel and Ufko. LW is Bjork, Lucchini and Kemell at RW. Murray in goal. The Ads (18-14-2-3) are in 3rd place. They are playing 7 Dmen, including Livingstone! Nychuk is sitting out.

Reedy centers Ozzy and Rolston.
Cal centers Wall and Pavel.
Angello centers Marino and Rolston.

The Ads dropped Reedy's PTO and signed him to a regular contract. He has 2G and 2A in 9 games after a long layoff.

Rockford (16-17-3-1) is in 5th place with Mitchell Weeks (7-8-3-0) in goal. They are 5 points behind the Admirals. They are wearing black jerseys and pants with a little white trim and a motion R crest much like the Laval Rocket!

Felix just head butted Wall after a whistle. I have seen that get an ejection in the past. Wall really did not like it!!! They are halfway through the period. SOG are 12-3 Admirals.

Marino hammers Felix in the SW corner with 10 seconds remaining. SOG were 16-11 Ads. They should have 2 goals.

In Period 2, Bjork (1) crosses the Blue Line and curls to the right, then passes to Angello at the top of the slot. Angello (6) rifled the puck home to make it 1-0 about 2.5 minutes into the period. Marino (4) was also credited with an assist. At 5:21, Angello (5) won a face-off cleanly to Tanner Ottenbreit (1) to make it 2-0 from the left point. SOG 24-13 Ads.

Rockford scores by grabbing Livingstone's left arm and spinning him off of the play and into the back of the net. He was late getting in front of the crease. Many fans thought it should be a penalty on Rockford.

Baddock gets 4 minutes for High Sticking and drawing blood. They will be shorthanded for the rest of the period. Bjork hits the crossbar with 1:50 left. There will be 38 seconds carrying over. The total SOG are 36-17 Admirals or 20-6 in the 2nd period. (The most this season)

In period 3, Rockford scores two goals in 6:14. The last one was a far post tap in to take a 3-2 lead. Goal #4 at 7:11 hits the inside of the left post. I feel bad for Murray. The defense disappeared.

The Ads answer just 23 seconds later to make it 4-3 IceHogs. Ozzy (9) goes near post on a pass from O'Reilly. The Ads have 12 minutes to tie it up. With 10 minutes remaining the SOG are 39-27 Admirals. The Ads killed a Tripping penalty. They have 4.5 minutes to score.

With 1:34 left, Kemell passes left to Ozzy, who stopped at the top of the circle and passed across to Cal, who turned the wrong way and threw the puck at the net. It went in over Weeks' right shoulder. I have NEVER seen a goal like that in my life. The puck hit an IceHog stick and changed direction enough that it went in the far side of the net. Weeks was not expecting a SOG since Cal was facing toward the Rockford bench. I believe that was intended to be a pass to Kemell. Murray was heading for the bench when it happened. SOG 13-5 Rockford or 41-30 Ads.

OT with Bjork, Cal and Del Gaizo. Now Ozzy, Lucchini and Ufko. Rolston with Angello and Del Gaizo. Reedy with Kemell and Gravel.

Caught them on a bad change! Ads win! Bjork scores the GWG at 3:32, his first on home ice. Bjork has a high hockey IQ. Cal has 7 points in his last 3 games and was the #1 Star with 1G and 2A.

The Admirals are 3-0 against Rockford in Milwaukee this season.

The Ads host Charlotte on Friday and Saturday after stealing 2 points tonight.

Got me thinking.........once Evangelista and Jank are back, what are the odds of Hinostroza clearing waivers? 50/50?

He hasnt really done anything up here since his callup unless some team is looking for a warm body at the nhl level i dont know why he would get picked up. Id say 80% chance of clearing
I would go full 100% chance of clearing. Unless there is a Milwaukee divisional rival who happens to have an open roster spot on their big league team and is willing to use it to advantage their minor league group for some perverse reason. That doesn't happen very often, but has occasionally. I am still fine going with 100%.

I also don't see any point in us continuing to keep Bellows around. Send them both back to Milwaukee ASAP.

I’m still trying to figure out what Vinnie is doing that Tomasino/Pärssinen weren’t…
Well with 1 assist in 11 games he's certainly not scoring as well as they were...

I think the main thing he has going for him is that he's 30 years old and has over 300 past NHL games on his resume? :dunno:
