Milwaukee was at Grand Rapids tonight. The Ads were 0-2-0-1 this season against GR.

The Admirals cured that by scoring the first SIX goals tonight, and hung on for a 6-1 victory.

Vinnie Hinostroza had a Hat Trick and an assist (no fights).
Kieffer Bellows had 1G and 2A (Vinnie's 2nd and 3rd goals, ES and PP).
Matt Murray was the third Star with 15 saves.

Ufko has 2A and Svech had 1A.

Bellows (10) scored ten minutes into the game, with assists to Vinnie (22) and Ufko (4) on the PP.

Ozzy (5) opened the scoring in Period 2 unassisted (16 PIMs).
Vinnie's (9) first goal was also unassisted.
That was all the scoring in Period 2.

Lucchini (6) with the last Milwaukee goal, assists to Del Gaizo (1) and MURRAY (1).

What's up with Kemell? No self-confidence? Uninspired play? Unsuitable linemates? Is he fit? Should be fighting mightily for opportunity on Preds right now, but... No goals for this Finnish sniper 9 games in a row (and 1 in 15 games) with 4 apples only. Simply brutal cold streak.
Thanks for insight.

Knowing our player development, we've already screwed him somehow.

He was a fantastic scorer when he first arrived in NA, but right now that aspect of his play is non-existent. I think they've somehow tried to turn him into a 200-foot grinder. He has regressed year after year and is approaching (if not already there) bust territory.

I doubt Taylor has tried to turn him into a grinder, they didn't draft him for that. They probably have expected him to become a bit more of a complete player though so he isn't a liability on defense.

Truth is I think some of it is likely that alot of the talent that was in Milwaukee is currently up in Nashville. Most of the Dmen that would help push things are up here, and there is no Parssinen, ZLH, Tomasino, etc. to play with this season. Guys that are scorers need playmakers, and I'm not sure how much of that we have in Milwaukee atm.

The ZLH/Svechkov/Kemell trio really broke out in the playoffs last season. Which isn't long ago. But now ZLH is in the NHL and Svechkov has had a combination of injury+NHL time, so I can see how bouncing around a bit more might be leaving Kemell a little out of synch. But his 15 pts is also tied for 3rd on the team. It's definitely too early to bring out the "bust" label. He's 20. But it does look like he might be another year or two away anyhow. :dunno:

Kemell is tied for third place in Admirals scoring with 5G 10A for 15 points, 1G 3A on the Power Play. He has 0.68 PPG and a 10.4% Shooting.

Kemell was injured last January on a late, dirty check behind the play in Henderson. He was out for several weeks. (I believe that it was a severe sprain or a fracture of the wrist.) His skating is still very good. He is a little less aggressive on offense, but is +2 so far in 22 GP.

The Ads (13-7-1-3, 30 pts, 2nd place) host the Texas Stars (13-11-1-0, 27 pts 4th place).

Magnus Hellberg (10-4-1-0, 3.00 GAA, 0.904%) started in goal for Texas.

Magnus Chrona (6-4-1-0, 2.56, 0.912%) in net for Milwaukee in the Battle of the Magi, or Magni.

Del Gaizo and Livingstone on D. O'Reilly centered Kemell (RW) & Ozzy (LW).

The Ads had the first 4 SOG. Texas scored 2 goals at the end of the period, the last one with 0.4 seconds remaining. The first goal was a deflection. The second one, Chrona did not defend the near post. SOG 9-7 Texas.

Texas scored a third goal in Period 2 when Ottenbreit carried the puck out to the left of the crease and ran into Angello, losing the puck. A Star went 5-hole from 10 feet out in the low slot. Total SOG are 13-12 Stars or 5-4 Ads in the period.

In Period 3, Hellberg tripped an Admiral behind the net during a Stars PP. NO CALL. Lots of booing by the 4876 fans for two times going up and down the ice. Shortly after, the Stars scored a 4th goal. Chrona has saved 3 more goals, so far. With 11:36 remaining, the Ads have 1 SOG to 7 for the Stars. SOG were 25-17 Stars or 12-5 ìn the period. The final was 4-0 Texas.

Hellberg was the #1 Star. The Ads fans cheered and applauded him.

To the Kemell debate: Thanks, guys.
To me his first bit of regular season and Calder Cup PO in 2023 with 8 goals was just abnormal. His first full season, according to low age, really promising. Nowadays... I wouldn't label him as a bust, he's still very young. Nevertheless - with that howitzer of him and more experience under his belt, I think he should have at least 10 goals right now. That is, even without hattrick against CHI. You put away that 5 pts performance and you get 22/2+8=10 which is pretty diet. At the same time, I don't remember any player that young during the years prior with same bomb of a shot...

yea he did 100% lol

Wood is going to take at least 3 more years if seasoning. Let the big guy cook
The thing with Kemell is he was always a long-shot to make the NHL as an impact player. 5-9 small winger with average skating don't tend to make the NHL very often let alone be a difference-maker. I think he's ceiling is pretty much a Tolvanen, essentially a guy you can get from a waiver wire from time to time or at least as a UFA.

5-9.5 at the combine
I grew an inch during my Freshman year of college. That was 18.5 to 19.25 years old.

Kemell is listed as 5'11" and 191 pounds here. He does hunch over or bend his knees a little, so he looks shorter. Trenin did that also. He went from 6'3" to looking like 6'0"

Grimaldi was listed as 5'6" here. I towered over Rocco at my 5'9" height.

The Admirals host Chicago. It is a fight for third place! The Ads gave been 1-2-0-1 in recent games. They need more SOG! It looks like 7K fans tonight.

The starters were Murray in goal, with LD Statsney and RD Ufko. Up front at LW is Mutter, C is O'Reilly and RW is Ozzy Weisblatt!

Line 2 is Svech with Bellows and Vinnie.
Line 3 is Lucchini with Kemell and Scott Reedy. He has 35 games with the Sharks.
Line 4 is Angello with Marino and Rolston

Gravel is playing with Livingstone.
Ottenbreit with Del Gaizo.

Lucchini nearly scored a SHG. Twice, a Wolves player has prevented an Ads player from stepping onto their bench. That is Interference and it should be called!

Bellows scored on a rebound from Svech (6) at 11:25 of the period. Ufko (6) had the second assist. I could not hear what # goal it was for Bellows.

Murray stopped a jam on his left post. He stopped one on the right post. Svech was tripped twice on one shift. Murray was knocked down in his crease. No Calls for any of that. Marino was rushing the puck up the ice and Wagner smacked the stick out of his hands. A Minor for Interference. Ufko (2) scores at 19:03, assists to Ozzy (6) and Cal (10). That happened with 1:17 remaining in the Chicago penalty. The Ads nearly scored again with about 7 seconds remaining. The SOG were 14-11 Chicago, but the Ads had the last three. The momentum swung back and forth a few times in Period 1.

Ads won the Period 2 face off, but did not get a shot. One Linesman, #56, is really bad at dropping the puck. You can be waiting 20 or 30 seconds! Chicago #6, Ryan Suzuki, tripped Svechkov instead of playing the puck. Maybe he should have been given 4 minutes? Ads with no SOG in the 7 minutes of this period.

Kemell with a big hit in the NW corner. Mutter with two checks, one on offense. Ads with one SOG in ten minutes versus 9 for the Wolves. The Forwards keep losing the puck after not passing it to the Dmen. Ads get a second SOG with 7:31 remaining in the period. Del Gaizo called for High Sticking. Chicago wanted 4 minutes, but it was correctly called as two. Chicago with EIGHT skaters and the goalie on the ice. No call for Too Many Men. Livingstone called for Slashing on a light stick tap. Weak, weak call. Total SOG 30-13 Chicago and 16-2 in the period. Murray has been a wall.

Period 3 begins with a Wolves PP. Ufko called for Tripping. I saw the replay, it was BS! It was 5-on-3 for 14 seconds. Murray has stopped 3 SOG in the first 1:50. Bellows (12) with an unassisted breakaway highlight reel goal at 6:55 of the period to make it 3-0. That was the Ads first SOG in Period 3. "We want Frosties" breaks out!

The Ads are getting a few SOG. Lucchini being held for 100 feet, NO call. Kemell throws a hit, then gets hit. Unsportsmanlike on Wagner with 6:15 to go for doing that. Ozzy checks the much larger Stillman and he doesn't like it! Stillman has been hitting people late and from behind the whole game. Suck it, Riley Stillman! (He was a -2 in this game.)

Just 2:03 remaining, the SOG are 40-16. Ads called for Icing when Marino was there first! Linesman #13, Blake Butler, was good and the rest of this crew is TRASH!

Wolves score with 1:06 remaining off a clean face off win and a pass. Chicago takes a TO. Ads score ENG from distance by Ozzy (6) with 7 seconds left, Livingstone (3) with the assist.

The Admirals win 4-1 despite being out shot 44-18. They made their shots count!

Murray is the #1 Star with 43 saves. Bellows is #2 with 2 goals. Ufko is #3 with a PPG and an assist.

Murray is the #5 goalie in the AHL with 14 GP, 2.04 GAA, 0.935 Save% and 8 wins.

Devin Cooley is #2 with 21 GP, 1.89 GAA, 0.940% and 15 wins!

Spencer Martin, the losing goalie, is #6 with 9 GP, 2.10 GAA, 0.915% and 6 wins.

The AHL says the attendance was 6920.
It was a loud crowd tonight.

Tomorrow at 7 PM, the Admirals play at Chicago for the 7th back-to-back with the same opponent this season and the third one with Chicago so far.

The Admirals moved up to second place with 32 points. Texas has 31 and Chicago remains at 30 points for 4th place.

Milwaukee lost 5-4 at Chicago. The Wolves built a 4-1 lead. The Ads made it 4-3. With 2.5 minutes left, the Ads pulled Magnus Chrona. Chicago scored a bankshot ENG to make it 5-3. The Ads pulled Chrona again and Kemell scored his second goal (7) of the game to make it 5-4 with about 30 seconds remaining. The Admirals just could not score the tying goal.

Milwaukee and Chicago are tied with 32 points. They are like Ying and Yang this season!

Milwaukee (14-9-1-3) 4th place, hosts the Cleveland Monsters (17-9-1-2) 4th place in North Division at 7 PM CT. It is one of only two AHL games today. A victory could send the Admirals into second place in the Central Division.

Mat Murray in goal vs Jet Greaves. LD Gravel with RD Ufko. LW Lucchini, C Angello and RW Ozzy Weisblatt. After the initial puck drop, Lucchini resumed being the Center.

The last time that Cleveland played here, Greaves committed 2 Minors, Interference and Roughing in Period 1. He was called for neither! Ozzy just drilled a guy between the benches! He was flat on his back. With 12:39 remaining, the SOG are 8-4 Admirals.

Cleveland scores a PPG at 8:41. Rocco had the assist. Cleveland players have left their skates twice to check Ads players. Neither one was called for charging. Kemell just flipped a guy with his check in the O-zone! The Admirals big hits are LEGAL.

The on-ice official's just blew the last two calls! Ref Samantha Hiller and Linesman Odin Nelson are the guilty parties. SOG 12-11 Monsters.

The Second period was delayed a few minutes by a hole in the ice in the SW corner. Gravel and Lucchini pointed it out to ref Graedy Hamilton and Linesman Craig Ford, who stood around and did nothing!

Cleveland gooning it up. They finally got a penalty for Holding after sitting on Bellows. They should be called for a second one for cross-checking IMHO. O'Leary being held behind the play. Hamilton looks at it and calls nothing!

Dmen are Del Gaizo with Statsney. Nychuk with Livingstone.

Grimaldi trickles one through to make it 2-0.
That was after Cleveland had 10 skaters on the ice and tried to start a fight. To their credit, four of them stayed across the ice, so it was only 6 versus 5. Angello was really angry about what was going on. Me too.

Maybe these shitty refs should call some of the obvious penalties on Cleveland? Ahcan was standing in Murray's crease for about 15 seconds, so Murray moved to the very top of the crease. Murray complained to ref Samantha Hiller about having company.

Ozzy (7) scores on a busted play at 18:14. Assists to Marino (3) and Nychuk (3). Mutter threw some big checks shortly before the goal was scored. Cleveland complaining about a very clean goal! WTH? Ozzy shot the puck from 40 feet and beat the goalie cleanly! SOG 24-20 Ads.

After the horn, some Cleveland players tried starting a fight (again). When are the TRASHY REFS going to give them Unsportsmanlike penalties for doing that?
The fans are getting on the refs and some of the Cleveland players.

Period 3 starts with a give away and a goal by Rocco, making it 3-1 Monsters. Rocco has been open this entire game. That should not be true! Angello checks the puck carrier and is called for Interference by Samantha Shithead! Hunt scores a PPG along the near post. Murray has not been good on that tonight.

Cleveland is called for 4 minutes. The puck rolled through their crease! They killed both penalties. There is 4:18 remaining. The SOG are 32-27 Ads. Nothing happened the rest of the game, except a pair of penalties so the BAD REFS can cover their you-know-whats!

The crowd of 6360 went home disappointed. They wanted to see a hockey game. The Admirals looked very flat except between 6 and 2 minutes remaining in Period Three. There were several individual efforts, but not much team play on offense.

Milwaukee (14-0-1-3) hosts Iowa (11-18-1-0). That is 4th place versus 6th place. Iowa is 4-11-1-0 on the road.

There are more fans on the concourse waiting for Dudley Boys autographs than in the arena bowl. The line stretches 1/3 of the way around the arena. It is the longest one since the Ads came back here in 2016!

I saw Ondrej Pavel (F) in the warm ups. He is wearing #71 for the Ads. They may being playing 7 D tonight, with Schaefer out.

The starters were Del Gaizo and Ufko on D. Bellows, Lucchini (C) and Kemell up front. Chrona in goal.

Line 2 is Pavel centering Angello (LW) and Rolston.

Line 3 is O'Reilly & Wall and Campbell (LW).

Line 4 is O'Leary w Marino and Marino (LW).

The D is Ottenbreit and Matier; Livingstone and Nychuk. (No Gravel or Prokop.)

After 8 minutes, SOG are 7-2 Ads. The puck hopped in the Wild crease a few times. At 11 minutes, SOG are 11-3 Ads. O'Leary threw a big open ice hit in front of the Iowa bench.

Kemell (8) scores unassisted with 5:01 left. He cruised up the LW, cut in and rifled the puck home from the near hash mark. SOG are 18-5 Ads. The period ended 1-0 and 18-10 Ads' favor.

The line is still 1/4 of the way around the arena! In Period 2, the Ads had the first 3 SOG. Ads with the PP at 2 minutes into the period. Bellows hit the left post. Only 1 SOG during the PP. Iowa scores after no whistle for 5 seconds when I could not see the puck! Chrona had it under his glove as the Wild kept poking at him. It should have never counted!!! The refs did not blow the whistle again! Chrona kept the puck out of the net as 3 Ads players were punching people.

A fight at center ice between Ottenbreit and Marek! They had been talking on a previous shift. It seemed friendly to me at the time. Ottenbreit with the win. We need somebody to step up besides Mutter and Angello.
Angello called for Boarding, when the guy was turned 90 degrees from the boards. Space called for Interference after running into an Ads player in the Neutral Zone. Ads called for Holding. Ads called for Icing when their player got to the puck FIRST. The officials were good in the 1st Period, now they STINK. Iowa hits the post. Mutter's arm was grabbed and he was pulled down while carrying the puck to the far Blue Line. No Call on that! What BS!!!

Iowa has taken 3 dives in the last 5 minutes. Only 1 penalty called on Milwaukee. Campbell with a breakaway and he missed the net. With 32 seconds remaining, the SOG are 26-25 Ads. SOG 16-8 Iowa.

The line is down to 30 people.
Period 3 starts with Iowa Icing the puck twice, then a Neutral Zone Hand Pass. Ads have 3 SOG to zero in three minutes. Admiral pulled down in the SW corner. No Call by ref Shaun Davis, who has regressed to his rather low mean. In 7 minutes of play the SOG are 4-0 Ads. Kemell just flattened Marek at the Blue Line. The Iowa Captain, Cameron Crotty chases Kemell down the ice to punch him for a Roughing call. Two SOG during the PP.

Mutter just stapled Spacek at the Blue Line. Iowa is offended by another clean check. What is wrong with these losers?

Del Gaizo goes solo on a line change and gets 2 good SOG. With 8 minutes remaining, the SOG are 11-1 Ads. Iowa getting chippy with 6 minutes remaining in the period.

Goalie William Rousseau, 3.09 GAA, .864 Sav%, has Iowa in this game. After the whistle, two Iowa players are in the crease. It looked like A Night at the Roxy with 4 Ads shoving them out! Jiricek with a cheap shot on Del Gaizo. No Call. It SHOULD have been called. Ufko tripped in the D-zone. No call. Under a minute to go, Iowa ices the puck twice. Ads holding the puck? Why? SOG were 11-5 Ads and 37-31 overall.

Chrona is in front of me for OT. O'Reilly with Kemell and Del Gaizo. Ads win after Del Gaizo (2) dug out the puck in the Neutral Zone and passed to LUCCHINI (8) for a blast of a GWG. Lucchini came on for Cal and scored at 1:02 into the OT. SOG 1-0 and 39-32 Admirals!

The goalies were the #1 and #2 Stars of the Game. Bellows was the #3 star. If there was an Honorable Mention, it would be Alex Campbell. He played great in only his 11th game out of 29 for Milwaukee. I hope to see him in the line up tomorrow.

The Ads are still in 4th place, but only one point behind second place Texas.

The Admirals play first place Grand Rapids, who has 43 points in 32 GP at 6 PM CT Saturday.

The attendance was 4209.

Milwaukee (15-10-1-3) 4th place, hosts Grand Rapids (20-9-3-0) 1st place. In their last 10 games, the Ads have gone (4-5-0-1) and the Griffins have been (5-3-2-0). GR was off last night, so they are rested, despite the 4 hour bus trip to get here.

The starters are Matt Murray in goalie. Rolston (RW) with Angello (C) and Ondrej Pavel. Del Gaizo at LD and Ufko at RD.

Ufko (3) scores at 17 seconds off a face-off! Assists by Rolston (2) and Angello (3). It was a blast from the center of the Blue Line with some traffic in front.

Sebastian Cossa is a good goalie, 2.31 GAA and 0.919 Sav% in 18 GP.

I take that back! Marino (2) scores a PPG with assists to Rolston (3) and O'Reilly (12) at 4 :33. Two goals on six SOG.

GR immediately scores a SHG from the low slot on a turnover to make it 2-1 Admirals. Bulum just elbowed Pavel and a Linesman. No call. Lots of checking around 10 minutes. SOG 7-6 GR. Mutter's stick was slashed and broken, NO Call. Same for Ottenbreit, the second broken stick via slash in about 90 seconds, with No Call.

The 6500 fans are yelling "the refs suck!". SOG 11-6 GR with 2:21 remaining. Marino called for Slashing at 19:20. I did not see it, but there was a lot of traffic in the far end. An Admiral was tripped in the O-zone with seconds to go and NO Call by ref Kyle Bauman. Marino had several words for the four officials after the horn. It was an obvious trip that Should have been called!
SOG 14-6 GR, so the Ads never had another one in the 15 minutes after the second goal.

The Ads did spend about 90 seconds with 4 skaters having sticks on the 2 non-calls! Mutter smashed a guy in front of the Admirals bench before being handed a stick. Ottenbreit held up his empty hands and spun around so the blind refs could see him without a stick.

Period 2 begins with a GR PP. The Ads killed it. On defense, Ottenbreit is playing with Livingstone. Nychuk is with Matier.

Ref Brody Sutter did call Tripping on Shine, the 2nd leader scorer for Grand Rapids. GR tried to leg trip an Ads player. Karl Taylor was doing a LOT of pointing before the face-off. He seems to be angry. Mutter's stick was being held for about 10 seconds. He creamed a big guy in the NE corner shortly after. Maybe that was the miscreant who was not called? Taylor is yelling at a ref and holding up 4 fingers during a TO!

Elmer Soderblom, #85, tried to hit Ottenbreit with an elbow, followed by Kemell being called for Holding! Elmer is 6'8" and too tall to play hockey!

More BS reffing in Milwaukee!!!

With 5:12 remaining, the SOG are 19-10 GR or 5-4 GR. At 2:32 remaining the SOG are 20-12 GR.

The Ads turned the puck over near their goal and Murray makes the save of the game! SOG were 8-8. Nate Danielson, #29 for GR, was complaining to the refs about something after the horn. He has committed 2 penalties in the game and been called for none, so he should be happy!

BTW: One of the Zamboni drivers is a woman! That is a first for me to see.

Period 3 begins with a GR player falling down. Thank goodness that no Admirals player was within 15 feet. Ottenbreit hammered Bulum in the NE corner. He did not get up for about 5 seconds and skated very slowly diagonally across the ice to his bench. He was doubled over and rocking back and forth. That was the hardest check that I have seen from Turner in his home games!

#81 for GR gets a "Welcome back, Jakob R" for High Sticking. Ads had 1 SOG during the penalty. Ads called for Tripping. Livingstone looks unhappy about the call with 9:15 remaining. Pavel gets his stick slashed in half and Brody Sutter called it, OMG! THE TIME US A CHARM! It 4-on-4 for a minute. GR with 2 Inferences in 10 seconds in the D-zone. Neither was called. "Highway Robbers" is being played on the PA and the fans are yelling at ref Brody Sutter! GR with too many men, Not Called. A wild bounce on a hard around deflects off a GR player and nearly goes in the GR net. Just 3:17 remaining. Austin Watson is complaining to the refs by the Penalty Box.

Pavel took a swoopy shot that Cossa had problem catching. Empty net in the last 2 minutes. Ads with fierce defense!!! They knocked the puck out of the zone several times.

Ads win!!!

The Stars of the game were Murray with 27 saves, Marino 1 G (GWG PPG), and Rolston with 2 A.

BTW: The official attendance was 6300. I was 200 too high.
