Milwaukee was at Grand Rapids tonight. The Ads were 0-2-0-1 this season against GR.

The Admirals cured that by scoring the first SIX goals tonight, and hung on for a 6-1 victory.

Vinnie Hinostroza had a Hat Trick and an assist (no fights).
Kieffer Bellows had 1G and 2A (Vinnie's 2nd and 3rd goals, ES and PP).
Matt Murray was the third Star with 15 saves.

Ufko has 2A and Svech had 1A.

Bellows (10) scored ten minutes into the game, with assists to Vinnie (22) and Ufko (4) on the PP.

Ozzy (5) opened the scoring in Period 2 unassisted (16 PIMs).
Vinnie's (9) first goal was also unassisted.
That was all the scoring in Period 2.

Lucchini (6) with the last Milwaukee goal, assists to Del Gaizo (1) and MURRAY (1).

What's up with Kemell? No self-confidence? Uninspired play? Unsuitable linemates? Is he fit? Should be fighting mightily for opportunity on Preds right now, but... No goals for this Finnish sniper 9 games in a row (and 1 in 15 games) with 4 apples only. Simply brutal cold streak.
Thanks for insight.

Knowing our player development, we've already screwed him somehow.

He was a fantastic scorer when he first arrived in NA, but right now that aspect of his play is non-existent. I think they've somehow tried to turn him into a 200-foot grinder. He has regressed year after year and is approaching (if not already there) bust territory.

I doubt Taylor has tried to turn him into a grinder, they didn't draft him for that. They probably have expected him to become a bit more of a complete player though so he isn't a liability on defense.

Truth is I think some of it is likely that alot of the talent that was in Milwaukee is currently up in Nashville. Most of the Dmen that would help push things are up here, and there is no Parssinen, ZLH, Tomasino, etc. to play with this season. Guys that are scorers need playmakers, and I'm not sure how much of that we have in Milwaukee atm.

The ZLH/Svechkov/Kemell trio really broke out in the playoffs last season. Which isn't long ago. But now ZLH is in the NHL and Svechkov has had a combination of injury+NHL time, so I can see how bouncing around a bit more might be leaving Kemell a little out of synch. But his 15 pts is also tied for 3rd on the team. It's definitely too early to bring out the "bust" label. He's 20. But it does look like he might be another year or two away anyhow. :dunno:

Kemell is tied for third place in Admirals scoring with 5G 10A for 15 points, 1G 3A on the Power Play. He has 0.68 PPG and a 10.4% Shooting.

Kemell was injured last January on a late, dirty check behind the play in Henderson. He was out for several weeks. (I believe that it was a severe sprain or a fracture of the wrist.) His skating is still very good. He is a little less aggressive on offense, but is +2 so far in 22 GP.

The Ads (13-7-1-3, 30 pts, 2nd place) host the Texas Stars (13-11-1-0, 27 pts 4th place).

Magnus Hellberg (10-4-1-0, 3.00 GAA, 0.904%) started in goal for Texas.

Magnus Chrona (6-4-1-0, 2.56, 0.912%) in net for Milwaukee in the Battle of the Magi, or Magni.

Del Gaizo and Livingstone on D. O'Reilly centered Kemell (RW) & Ozzy (LW).

The Ads had the first 4 SOG. Texas scored 2 goals at the end of the period, the last one with 0.4 seconds remaining. The first goal was a deflection. The second one, Chrona did not defend the near post. SOG 9-7 Texas.

Texas scored a third goal in Period 2 when Ottenbreit carried the puck out to the left of the crease and ran into Angello, losing the puck. A Star went 5-hole from 10 feet out in the low slot. Total SOG are 13-12 Stars or 5-4 Ads in the period.

In Period 3, Hellberg tripped an Admiral behind the net during a Stars PP. NO CALL. Lots of booing by the 4876 fans for two times going up and down the ice. Shortly after, the Stars scored a 4th goal. Chrona has saved 3 more goals, so far. With 11:36 remaining, the Ads have 1 SOG to 7 for the Stars. SOG were 25-17 Stars or 12-5 ìn the period. The final was 4-0 Texas.

Hellberg was the #1 Star. The Ads fans cheered and applauded him.

To the Kemell debate: Thanks, guys.
To me his first bit of regular season and Calder Cup PO in 2023 with 8 goals was just abnormal. His first full season, according to low age, really promising. Nowadays... I wouldn't label him as a bust, he's still very young. Nevertheless - with that howitzer of him and more experience under his belt, I think he should have at least 10 goals right now. That is, even without hattrick against CHI. You put away that 5 pts performance and you get 22/2+8=10 which is pretty diet. At the same time, I don't remember any player that young during the years prior with same bomb of a shot...

yea he did 100% lol

Wood is going to take at least 3 more years if seasoning. Let the big guy cook
The thing with Kemell is he was always a long-shot to make the NHL as an impact player. 5-9 small winger with average skating don't tend to make the NHL very often let alone be a difference-maker. I think he's ceiling is pretty much a Tolvanen, essentially a guy you can get from a waiver wire from time to time or at least as a UFA.

5-9.5 at the combine
I grew an inch during my Freshman year of college. That was 18.5 to 19.25 years old.

Kemell is listed as 5'11" and 191 pounds here. He does hunch over or bend his knees a little, so he looks shorter. Trenin did that also. He went from 6'3" to looking like 6'0"

Grimaldi was listed as 5'6" here. I towered over Rocco at my 5'9" height.

The Admirals host Chicago. It is a fight for third place! The Ads gave been 1-2-0-1 in recent games. They need more SOG! It looks like 7K fans tonight.

The starters were Murray in goal, with LD Statsney and RD Ufko. Up front at LW is Mutter, C is O'Reilly and RW is Ozzy Weisblatt!

Line 2 is Svech with Bellows and Vinnie.
Line 3 is Lucchini with Kemell and Scott Reedy. He has 35 games with the Sharks.
Line 4 is Angello with Marino and Rolston

Gravel is playing with Livingstone.
Ottenbreit with Del Gaizo.

Lucchini nearly scored a SHG. Twice, a Wolves player has prevented an Ads player from stepping onto their bench. That is Interference and it should be called!

Bellows scored on a rebound from Svech (6) at 11:25 of the period. Ufko (6) had the second assist. I could not hear what # goal it was for Bellows.

Murray stopped a jam on his left post. He stopped one on the right post. Svech was tripped twice on one shift. Murray was knocked down in his crease. No Calls for any of that. Marino was rushing the puck up the ice and Wagner smacked the stick out of his hands. A Minor for Interference. Ufko (2) scores at 19:03, assists to Ozzy (6) and Cal (10). That happened with 1:17 remaining in the Chicago penalty. The Ads nearly scored again with about 7 seconds remaining. The SOG were 14-11 Chicago, but the Ads had the last three. The momentum swung back and forth a few times in Period 1.

Ads won the Period 2 face off, but did not get a shot. One Linesman, #56, is really bad at dropping the puck. You can be waiting 20 or 30 seconds! Chicago #6, Ryan Suzuki, tripped Svechkov instead of playing the puck. Maybe he should have been given 4 minutes? Ads with no SOG in the 7 minutes of this period.

Kemell with a big hit in the NW corner. Mutter with two checks, one on offense. Ads with one SOG in ten minutes versus 9 for the Wolves. The Forwards keep losing the puck after not passing it to the Dmen. Ads get a second SOG with 7:31 remaining in the period. Del Gaizo called for High Sticking. Chicago wanted 4 minutes, but it was correctly called as two. Chicago with EIGHT skaters and the goalie on the ice. No call for Too Many Men. Livingstone called for Slashing on a light stick tap. Weak, weak call. Total SOG 30-13 Chicago and 16-2 in the period. Murray has been a wall.

Period 3 begins with a Wolves PP. Ufko called for Tripping. I saw the replay, it was BS! It was 5-on-3 for 14 seconds. Murray has stopped 3 SOG in the first 1:50. Bellows (12) with an unassisted breakaway highlight reel goal at 6:55 of the period to make it 3-0. That was the Ads first SOG in Period 3. "We want Frosties" breaks out!

The Ads are getting a few SOG. Lucchini being held for 100 feet, NO call. Kemell throws a hit, then gets hit. Unsportsmanlike on Wagner with 6:15 to go for doing that. Ozzy checks the much larger Stillman and he doesn't like it! Stillman has been hitting people late and from behind the whole game. Suck it, Riley Stillman! (He was a -2 in this game.)

Just 2:03 remaining, the SOG are 40-16. Ads called for Icing when Marino was there first! Linesman #13, Blake Butler, was good and the rest of this crew is TRASH!

Wolves score with 1:06 remaining off a clean face off win and a pass. Chicago takes a TO. Ads score ENG from distance by Ozzy (6) with 7 seconds left, Livingstone (3) with the assist.

The Admirals win 4-1 despite being out shot 44-18. They made their shots count!

Murray is the #1 Star with 43 saves. Bellows is #2 with 2 goals. Ufko is #3 with a PPG and an assist.

Murray is the #5 goalie in the AHL with 14 GP, 2.04 GAA, 0.935 Save% and 8 wins.

Devin Cooley is #2 with 21 GP, 1.89 GAA, 0.940% and 15 wins!

Spencer Martin, the losing goalie, is #6 with 9 GP, 2.10 GAA, 0.915% and 6 wins.

The AHL says the attendance was 6920.
It was a loud crowd tonight.

Tomorrow at 7 PM, the Admirals play at Chicago for the 7th back-to-back with the same opponent this season and the third one with Chicago so far.

The Admirals moved up to second place with 32 points. Texas has 31 and Chicago remains at 30 points for 4th place.

Milwaukee lost 5-4 at Chicago. The Wolves built a 4-1 lead. The Ads made it 4-3. With 2.5 minutes left, the Ads pulled Magnus Chrona. Chicago scored a bankshot ENG to make it 5-3. The Ads pulled Chrona again and Kemell scored his second goal (7) of the game to make it 5-4 with about 30 seconds remaining. The Admirals just could not score the tying goal.

Milwaukee and Chicago are tied with 32 points. They are like Ying and Yang this season!
