The only time I've ever seen it not called is if the player has both hands on his stick and clearly isn't trying to play the puck, like it just hits him as he's skating or something.

This had complete intent, the player took his hand off his stick with the purpose of playing the puck and it hit his hand and went to his teammate. It's literally called a hand pass 99% of the time, so much so that two other plays that were almost identical later in the same game were whistled down for hand passes. His own teammate almost didn't play the puck bc he thought it was a hand pass.

The fact this was reviewed and upheld is a complete farce.

The call was egregiously bad, but I just can't excuse their play based on that. The Rangers leave the game in the refs hands waaaay too much. Same idea with policing their own crease. The refs arent going to fight the teams battles. Maybe crosscheck a guy if he bumps Igor for once. Not skating away like Jacob Picasso routinely does.

Laf should've buried that empty net in the opening minutes. Then it wouldn't have been the low energy performance it was.

*Machinehead tightens fist*

We have a new and improved version of Kreider he can stan for. Just turn the 2 in his jersey to a 5.

Laf, Cuylle and Kakko are already carrying these guys lifeless corpses. Might as well give them top line minutes and roles. But we can't because the core has accomplished so much (and won nothing).

Oh yeah, they played like dogshit - a microcosm of the whole season so far for me. Entitled, lazy, slacking off, not engaged. Outside of a few players (Cuylle, Laf, Chytil, Igor and Quick mostly) this team has been pretty damn bad for the last few weeks. I'm usually an optimist of a fan but I've been really discouraged from a lot of what I see, which is ironic because per the advanced stats on paper they're improved but they look worse to me night and night out this season than last season.

Nothing is crisp. Players are careless and sloppy with the puck. Key guys like Trocheck and Kreider seem to be actively slacking off and making lazy and poor decisions with and without the puck. I get an overall vibe that reminds me of the 2022-23 team, thinking they're just going to flip a switch at some point and we all know how that works out.

It's just crazy to see a reviewed call be blown that badly, imagine a call like that happening in the playoffs with everyone watching? Would be madness.

How was the 3rd goal a perfect shot? If you want to say the good outweighed the bad I get it but that was an awful goal.
I don’t think people get it- you can’t pay people that much and still win- it is a TEAM sport- it really doesn’t matter who it is. We already committed that kind of money to Panarin.

What if you made 2k a week? Would you commit 1.5k a week to food? No matter how good that food is or what it is worth? You wouldn’t have money for clothes or housing. Your life would suck.

Why is that hard to understand?

I feel bad for the young guys. They've been patient but the entire braintrust is beholded to outside hires (Mika, Trouba) and guys who have worn out their welcome (Kreider, Lindgren). Has all the makings of a rift in the locker room.
This will be the last season and run back for most of this core. I don't doubt that Drury wants to turn over part of the roster.

Unfortunately for me, I finally got the Gotham app to work on my computer last night.

What a garbage performance all around.

I get that Calgary goes into this game knowing they're up against a very good team that could end up embarrassing them on their home ice if they don't play well, but the rangers need to execute better. They're passing and puck handling were atrocious. And Igor needs to make that save on the game winning goal.

I’m just tired of seeing Kreider, Zibanejad, Trouba, and Lindgren play for this team. Especially the first two names can barely be bothered to give half of an effort night in and night out, it’s disgusting. Trocheck looks terrible, Panarin was never going to repeat last season understandably however he’s still the only player on this team who can pass the puck at an elite level so he still creates a ton of opportunities. Cuylle is great, Kakko is very good, 4th line is excellent. The Rangers 3rd and 4th lines are probably the best they have been since the cup team and it’s going to be squandered because the top 6 is not good enough.

I think underrated is correct but excellent is pushing it.
wild hyperbole is this boards MO when denigrating and vilifying our teams players, i can't push it slightly??

also i don't think it's crazy. that backhand sauce pass into space a few games back literally made me a little hard.
