It wasn't Toronto, learn how to read.

Also Burke has called Lou his mentor in the past, he's not going to turn around and call him an idiot. Does Lou look like the type to gossip? Give me a break.

Sounds like Tim Murray.

Murray is trying to unload Kane, I would almost bet it was that mealy mouthed little ball of hate

There is a video of Murray on the phone last night being very animated, and he appears to be trying to talk his way out of something. Kind of wonder if they captured Burke giving him an earful. The next day, Burke gives this rant. Tim Murray seems like a great guess IMO.

This.

Lou mentored both Burke and Ron Wilson when he coached them in their Providence college days, it is not him. This sounds alot like Murray, as he comes across as a GM who would stoop to any level to gain an competitive advantage.

If you read Burke's rant, I don't think it was exactly the one way conversation he's making it out to be though. There was obviously some dialogue there, and it wasn't just, "is he available", "no", move on. They clearly talked about it.

You miss the point. You listen to everything. If an offer blows you away you take it. If you get offered a Crosby for a Kopitar you wouldn't talk about it?

He said the offer was insulting. Clearly not much dialogue to be had.

I don't know. That could very well be damage control. And considering most of his rant is clearly hyperbolic damage control, it's hard to take that too seriously. The one thing that is absolutely confirmed is that they listened to an offer on him.

JVR, Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kadri, Rielly and 1st round picks are all NOT available.

Maybe:

Peter Holland for Hamilton.

That is the most I would offer for Hamilton. He is not impressive. If you don't like it, don't dream about getting Toronto's top line elite players.

Whoever the other GM was, Burke was clearly annoyed with him - moreso than the media and that's saying something given how much Burke hates the press.

Say what you will about Burke - the guy is pretty well-connected around the league and getting on his bad side likely isn't a great idea.

I think the GM that leaked it could be Arizona's GM, if I recall correctly when Kypreos broke the story he said Arizona and Pittsburgh were the 2 teams inquiring on Hamiton, and considering how Arizona's GM is young it wouldn't surprise me if he was the one that leaked it.

Probably him. He always has been known for his wacky out of the box ideas like advertising a gas rebate but making people have to participate in a two day long nature hike to find the rebate box.

If this is true, then the Arizona GM is gonna find out real fast that the old boys still run this asylum. Millennials better tow the line of best practices..or else.

Yeah Peter Holland for Freddie Hamilton seems fair.

Uh, I think leaf fans are fine without his quotes being a regular thing.
His quotes being a regular thing was because of the media. Since coming to Calgary he's not in the media regularly at all. He does interviews when requested, but as the President of the Flames he is asked much less.

Then enjoy your Oiler like rebuild.

While i get the childish tone...

Reilly/Gardiner/Zaitsev/Carrick on the roster...

Dermott/Bracco/Nielson/Vailiev in the pipeline....

We are in year 1 of our rebuild, pretty sure we ARE AHEAD OF WHERE THE Oilers were in year 1 of their rebuild.

Technically wasn't last year the year 1 of your rebuild?

As usual, some Leafs fans' proposals are laughably one-sided. Hamilton isn't the second coming of Christ but it would certainly take a lot more than Holland or JVR.

I'm extremely thankful for Burke squashing a rumor that most people recognized was BS to begin with.

Year one. Good one. Rielly, Nylander, Marner and Matthews are all top 10 (3 picks were top 5) from the last 5 years. Before that the leafs were tanking to the bottom ten still. With those picks being used on Kadri and in trading for Kessel. Edit:and Schenn

But this whole young core was built in a year. My bad.

In his defense, he graduated with really good grades from one of Canada's top business schools.
