I'd love the Leafs to land Hamilton, but I wouldn't move any of: Matthews, Rielly, Marner, Nylander, or Zaitsev in order to do so. I would consider moving Kadri, but I would be very hesitant, he's played his way into our core this year.

In other words, it's probably not going to happen.

The best I would be willing to offer would be something like:

JVR + Carrick

and I doubt CGY would make that move unless they WANT to trade Hamilton.

Wait, you think it's Nylander + for him??

Ok I am out of here. Most likely nothing happens, but if it does I'll be back to laugh at you guys for the insane over valuation you have shown. A near PPG 20 year old future #1 C + for a #3 offensive D.

You are out of your mind. If Lou traded Nylander for him even straight up, I would lose ALL hope in management and assume the owners have given orders to abandon the rebuild.

In that case, I don't know what I will do, but I will probably lose hope as a fan and follow another team.

If you're going to call Nylander a future #1C then you need to call Hamilton a future #1D because that's his potential. Now I don't know if it would take Nylander+, but you have to give to get.

That poster obviously is just looking to squabble with someone. I never said +, I said "more to the package". Meaning could be more players involved. I doubt the numbers would balance out in a one for one trade. So maybe Polak or Holland are possiblities.. I'd call them a - if anything.

I've been in meetings all morning, has something happened? It seems like the most recent posts have a tone of certainty to them...like a deal is actually rumored.

Quite literally the opposite

“But just to circle back to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Calgary Flames, specific to the rumors over the past day or two – I asked Brad Treliving point-blank yesterday if he had anything going on with the Toronto Maple Leafs. I didn’t suggest Hamilton. I just said ‘Anything.’ And his response was: ‘Nothing. Zero.’

Looks like the Leafs are going to have to peddle their castoffs elsewhere. What a shame.

1. Lou is known to not want media involvement. If there WAS a deal, then saying they were working with the Leafs kills it.

2. We have had GM's say literally a few days before that they were not moving player X or there was no deal, and then they move.

3. Nylander is a cast off. No problem keeping our cast offs, enjoy the next Orr.

What is this revisionist nonsense? Literally dozens of posts here by Leafs saying Nylander isn't on the table for Hamilton but now all of sudden, he is?

Or are you guys finally realizing the Flames aren't giving Hamilton away so the Leafs would actually have offer something the Flames need (aka right handed right wingers) in order to make a deal?

As a Leaf fan I wouldn't move Nylander.

Not only do I consider him to be the more valuable piece, but taking on Hamilton and losing Willy screws our expansion draft exemptions quite a bit compared to how it sits right now (where we would likely just lose someone like Leivo)

Trading Nylander would be a Nonis tier idiotic move by the Leafs. Laughable.

Nylander is a winger. He is being developed as such and until further notice is a winger.

He's played centre his entire career including playing more games down the middle in the NHL than on the wing.
