Exactly. Going by the list of diving fines per franchise all time it's wildly inconsistent like the way the NHL deals with goaltender interference.

Obviously the money is ridiculous and a total non factor.

However, I have to believe that nobody with any degree of pride likes getting called out and publicly classified by the League as a diver.

Having skated for 55 years, there's a difference between being pulled off stride and falling versus just falling forward on the ice. This is the latter. Clear embellishment imo
