Dougie Hamilton Fined for Embellishment

Seems like the embellishment fines are pretty random, this is a play I would consider as borderline since the Rangers player looks to be making a hooking/spearing motion so I can see why he goes down.

I learned after the J Skinner fine, that the fine comes after 2 warnings.

Hamilton must have a record of this.

That's exactly why he tried it. There was a very small action by the opponent and he tried to bring attention to it. It is very clear that what is throwing him down is him letting himself fall and not the action of another player. It is shameless.

Other than the fine, which is very minimal, the real harm for the player is the shame that comes with it.

there's nothing there for his legs to seize up like they did. You don't fall from getting hooked or speared when you're slowly skating up the ice

Given his reaction, I wonder if he just tripped. Optics of the light stick contact alongside the weak fall definitely deserves scrutiny. Oh well, I'm not a Hamilton fan anyways.
