Doughty nominated for the Norris

Looks like Karlssons year again but DD has deserved the nod each season he has been in the league. Nice to see the voters tossing him a bone. I mean the best Dman in the game should always be considered. Maybe DD should stop playing his position so brilliantly and focus more on scoring. He could end up winning the Norris the next several years in a row.
 
i think if we made the playoffs he would have been the run away winner. Especially since Subban and Karlsson will split the eastern vote.

Weber and Doughty are pretty much similar but his team made the playoffs and is the captain. Same for Keith.

Not that I don't want Doughty to win. He is definitely better defensively than Karlsson and Subban, by far based on stats.

If he was in the East he would be the runaway winner with what he did in the wake of all the **** the Kings defense went through this season.

But he's not. So I don't expect that he will win.
 
These award nominations are just further salt in the wound as it relates to this team missing the playoffs.

Has a team ever had both a Norris and Selke finalist yet miss the playoffs? I don't even mean in the Cap Era but rather ever, like even on other planets.
 
awesome for Drew. the way the voting seems to work sometimes, the amount of previous nominations you have can help you. Lundquist's Vezina had an air of that around it.

So even if he doesn't win, it might help him later on. and if he plays at the level he played next season, this team will be in a good place this time next year.
 
I consider Drew to be the most valuable hockey player in the world, but I don't think he's worthy of the Norris this year.

He played some of his worst hockey down the stretch this season. I don't fault him for it, but it's the truth, and I don't think he should get the Norris.

Doesn't matter anyways. The award is a joke. Guys like Subban and Karlsson would have been given the Mike Green treatment had they not played for Canadian teams.
 
Doughty had a great first half. Second half, not so much. Role reversal for Karlsson. Wasn't good beginning of the year, finished great. Based on all-around defensemen, Doughty should win. He won't, but he should.
 
Out of the 3, it's pretty obvious who's the best defenseman and he doesn't play in Canada. Unfortunately over the years , the award has turned into a who scores the most points award, and not so much a player who can play solid defense too.
 
#1 in Corsi for defensemen. #2 TOI/GP. These are respectable numbers. He has my vote over the other two. Too bad he won't win.
 
While I respect Bob McKenzie, I can't get behind him giving Giordano a first place vote for the Norris even though he got injured and missed the final 20 games. It's a wasted vote.
