There is, he's aggressive and 18.
Yeah, but i kinda hold the 18 year old argument against him. It's not very common for these kids to dominate the penalty minute charts unless they're shitheads like Tkachuck.

THAT BEING SAID, i do believe that even if he keeps taking this amount of penalties for his entire career, his play will eventually more than make up for it. Right now it's a bit annoying, though.

Well that's a frustrating way to lose game we should have gotten a point out of. Two misses by the zebras but they just can't but themselves in that position, keep the stick down and off the hands and do your best to not retaliate (easy to say from the sidelines I know)

The true measure of this game comes tomorrow. Use the outcome as motivation and pick up the win tomorrow and it's a more acceptable loss. Let things snowball and oh boy...

He’s not going to take these penalties his entire career because once he’s no longer a rookie half of these aren’t getting called. Based on Brind’amour’s reaction to the first one I think Svech is being told not to change a damn thing about the way he plays. If Justin Williams switched numbers with him for a game he’d be in the box the entire game.

I’m still livid about this one. Is it just because it’s Tim Peel? It’s hard to get pissed about the Lightning players embellishing because Aho started it.

Either way, that’s just a horrific way to lose a game against the best team in the sport, on the road, in a game that they allowed next to nothing for even scoring chances at 5 on 5.

One thing I loved about this game was the passion from this team last night. I feel liked it’s been lacking some this year.

Absolutely loved seeing Brindy get animated and pissed at the refs. I loved seeing Hamilton slam his stick against the post after the empty netter went in. There was some chippyness after the plays. The boys just seemed into it last night and really wanted the win. If they bring that mentality for the rest of the year they’re going to make a good push.

I’d have like to see Brindy go off in the press conference after getting a text from Dundon telling him forthcoming fine would be taken care of.

I noticed Rod had Svechnikov out on the ice for shifts immediately after both of his penalties. It also seemed like the first time all year that Rod let Svech open up his game on the 4v4.

Svechnikov played the 4th highest minutes among forwards (behind Aho, TT, Williams) despite taking 2 penalties and no PK time. Rod's trust is growing in him even if he is racking up PIM.

Rod is also deployed the D last night almost evenly at ES:
ES TOI
Hamilton0:17:09
Pesce0:16:38
Faulk0:16:10
De Haan0:17:24
TVR0:15:52
Slavin0:17:07

and played a lot of 3rd/4th line against the best team in the league. Interesting strategy as everyone has to play above their heads but the guys and Mrazek seemed up to it.

Here's the thing that pisses me off about this. Yeah, he probably won't get as many of these calls when he's not a rookie....but he is a rookie. Maybe they should just say, don't do that shit this year. And those stick to hand penalties he always gets...they don't help when you don't get called for them either. They are just lazy plays by a player who stopped moving his feet. Maybe that should be worked on, too.
