Management Don Sweeney extended 2 years

I’m good with the fun it would bring but he’s getting up there

I’m Leafs
1. Stop trading 1’s
That’s what I want to see Sweeney do these next couple of drafts, where he’s collected Toronto and Florida first, unless it’s for a stud with term.

I dont want to see these picks moved for a last desperate grasp at making the playoffs for an upcoming UFA

The majority of folks on here would prefer that they move on from Sweeney, but what's hilarious is that between Sweeney and Neely, Sweeney would get another job immediately if he got fired. Remember, even Peter Chiarelli got scooped up quickly after he got canned. GM's in the NHL are recycled like soda cans. I'd be absolutely stunned if any team gave Neely a job if by some miracle he got canned. He has proven to be too emotional and a mediocre (and that's being kind) talent evaluator. Outside of acting like a maniac when the team scores a goal, I'm really not sure what, if anything, he actually does.

Maybe Vancouver takes Cam in if he gets canned?

Just looked up current NHL GMs. First 7 teams (in alphabetical order) have first time GMs.

I’m a Rod Brind’Amour truther going back to his Blues days

Hoping Canes can get swept and Rod canned so Donny can squeeze him into an interview and hire him
My favorite Brind'Amour thing was when the Blues signed Brendan Shanahan, the Devils asked the arbiter for Scott Stevens and the Blues offered Rod the Bod and Curtis Joseph Lou Lams, master negotiator convinced the guy...crazy days back then,

I've always found hilarious that the Blues gave up 3 or 4 first round picks to Washington as compensation for signing Stevens and then a year later they gave up Stevens as compensation for signing Shanahan. I didn't know that about Brind'Amour and Cujo being offered though, interesting stuff.

That's like saying the Titanic wasn't Edward Smith's worst voyage.

These player write ups also look like they were written by the Bruins PR staff.

I recall some people defending the first-round picks by arguing that if the Bruins had selected players like Barzal, Connor, and Konecny, they eventually wouldn’t have been able to afford to keep all three, so none would have stayed with the team long-term.

Fun times.

brought to you by;

Monty being an absolute turn coat worm, Hampus' rare kneecap break, and team USA f***ing up McAvoy's health care

no doubt in my mind Bruins slip in to the 7th or 8th seed if Hampus and McAvoy are healthy, and probably end up upsetting Washington on top of it

So if the team had perfect health they would have been a 7th or 8th seed?

That still not a good roster if you are depending on perfectly health to barely make the playoffs.

Also funny to see all these coaches leave us and do better with other teams.

It is becoming very apparent that the coaches haven’t been the issue.

Hampus and McAvoy would of helped push the pace from the back-end, but it wouldn't of changed the fact that the forward group pre-deadline and post-deadline just weren't good enough and lacked a lot of things you need to succeed. The root cause of this teams problems from start to finish was the forward group Sweeney assembled.

Elias didn't have a good year or meet expectations.

Pasta didn't have a great start.

It took a coaching change to get Morgan Geekie producing.

Frederic underwhelmed,

Coyle regressed back to the mean.

Marchand was overworked,

the 4th liners brought basically nothing outside of a few big hits and fights from Kastelic in games they still lost.

Guys they thought were going to contribute like Tufte and Jones were complete busts.

Poitras couldn't stick full-time.

He would be worth a look under the hood. I have to say that for all the crap the Maple Leafs take for their playoff failures, do the Canes deserve as much criticisms, they have been a major disappointment.

Julien didn't do better.

Cassidy did.

Monty hasn't yet.
