Management Don Sweeney extended 2 years

I think you might have fDS (frankiess Derangement Syndrome)

It's hockey. It's understanding that the state of the team, not including listed injuries, leads back to Sweeney.

How long, in your opinion, will it take Sweeney to take the Bruins from ''ass'', to contender? Anybody? Anybody know the time it takes a draft pick to become NHL ready?

''sure, Ill put part of the blame on Sweeney for hiring Monty, but it's a business and loyalty is extremely rare. He could have told Sweeney he'd stay here for a minimum of 5 years and then change his mind''
Extremely rare? It's a good ole boys club. How do you know what was said?

''Probably better than you think but I question why that's even your main concern.''
No, Bennett would crush him. Because Sweeney drafted him. To play against Florida in the playoffs?

Did you watch the Florida - Carolina game last night? Another forearm shiver from Ekblad to the head of another guy. A Tkachuk shoulder to one guys face. No calls. That's what a team has to beat. How do you beat it? You tell me Knight.

finally a post with at least some substance, I knew you had it in you

it's possible I could develop FDS over time if I knew who you were and you spent more time posting good arguments, time will tell.

you seem really focused on the draft when you and I both know that's not the only way Sweeney can improve the team.

To answer your last question, which to me is obvious, you beat it with balls and speed. Something you and I both probably want

My first thought too lol.

People refuse to let go of the 2015 draft, because past that he's been a great GM. Assembled one of the most stacked rosters we've ever seen in the cap era. Not his fault the players/coach fudged it up in the first round.
I wouldn't even say the 2015 draft was his biggest failure as a General Manager.

13th overall:
Zboril was showing to be the defenseman he could have been, but injury derailed his career. They took him 13th, and he was the fourth defenseman off the board, where he was projected.
14th overall:
DeBrusk is a solid NHL player and fits in a top-six role on either wing

15th overall:
Senyshyn was a bit of a reach, but he was a great skater, and they knew another team (I believe it was Anaheim) was going to take him, and he wasn't going to be at their next pick. He was also starting to show some promise, and each time he got NHL opportunities, he would get injured.

37th overall:
Carlo - he's become a top shutdown defenseman in the league

45th overall:
Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson showed great promise but ended up having family issues that brought him back home

52nd overall
Lauzon has become a decent NHL-caliber defenseman who can play solid middle pairing minutes.

75th overall
Vladar is a capable NHL backup goaltender who can be okay in the starting role on a short-term basis.

105th, 165th, & 195th overall
Jesse Gabrielle, Cameron Hughes, and Jack Becker played a combined two games (both by Hughes) and clearly didn't make it because of their own abilities.

DeBrusk, Carlo, Lauzon, and Vladar were all good picks. You can even put Senyshyn and Zboril in the "failure" category because of their injuries, but that's still 4/10 picks hitting—which is pretty freakin solid.

So the silver lining being that after 10 years of coasting on a core largely not built by him the fan base only has to put up with this for 2 more years? Does this mean that Murphy was right regarding the Tochett report and that the broken clock was set at the right time?
He didn't draft the core, but he took over as the Director of Player Development back in 2006 so he had a big hand in the development of many of them - including David Krejci, Milan Lucic, and Brad Marchand.

That's like saying the Titanic wasn't Edward Smith's worst voyage.

These player write ups also look like they were written by the Bruins PR staff.

I wouldn’t be opposed to:

President of the Boston Bruins = Cam Neely
Note: this role has zero to do with team decisions

President of Hockey Ops = Don Sweeney

GM = Evan Gold

AGM = No Clue / Bergy? Chara?

One day….
Would you be opposed to giving outside eyes a chance to run this team and get rid of the staleness and constant underachieving?

When I look at the past decade the last thing I can say is "Man, I really hope they add more ex Bruins to this group"

Always open to it. Think I’d love for them to make a run at Mathieu Darche with Tampa.

But we know how they run things. So I prepare myself for the obvious.

This is a super fun question and I’m disappointed people haven’t chimed in.

Im going with Texas and Wisconsin.
At the start of the nhl season, BC and BU were tied for the most players in the NHL for a college team. Minnesota third.

They’ve both won a natty in the last 15 or so years, and especially lately have great postseason success.

No one is Alabama as while Denver is a beast in the postseason, they don’t produce pros like BC and BU do. I’d put them right at the Georgia/LSU/Michigan level, though there’s no perfect comparison. They’re well above Texas and especially Wisconsin.
