Can't wait for him to celebrate my selecting some Scandinavian defensemen you've never heard of in the first round.
Sweeney also said that any prospective coach would be privileged to join this great original six franchise.I’m with ya.
I read a bunch of reactions here before I had the chance to watch it. When I finally had the chance to boot it up, I had my torch and lighter ready.
Was everything answered as well as it could have been? Nah. I think the excuses made for Sweeney in 2015 at the draft were particularly lame.
But they said the goal was the Cup. They identified that the league was changing and they needed to change with it. They took responsibility for the bad year. Sweeney was even open when asked if his new head coach should have some NHL experience. He didn’t have to say anything there.
I was ready to join the mob. I ended up being critical of it.
Fair enough. It's crazy how history always repeats. When Chiarelli was let go, folks here hated him. And the message then was the same as the message now. He didn't actually build the Cup team, O'Connell drafted the big forwards, Gorton signed the big free agents. I didn't think it was fair then and I don't think saying Sweeney inherited the 2019 team is fair either.
Wasn't that defense mostly Sweeney? McAvoy was our best D, Carlo was a big key to that run, Krug was recruited by Sweeney, even Grzelcyk was good on that run. Clifton was a Sweeney guy. Up front, DeBrusk had a great playoff. Sweeney traded for Coyle and Johansen. That line with Heinen was the best 3rd line in the playoffs that year. Kuraly, Acciari and Wagner were beasts and all Sweeney guys...
I know how you feel. I’ve been there. I’m just not there any more. They changed their approach and that caused me to revise my opinion. Is it perfect? Far f***ing from it. But I’m open to see what their plan is.Sweeney also said that any prospective coach would be privileged to join this great original six franchise.
Neely was beyond hyper sensitive to criticism of any kind.
Charlie...
How tone deaf do you have to be?
They are three fancy peas in a pod. Hermetically sealed. Insular, inbred, incestuous, clueless.
I hate them all.

Why?Just don't lose Evan Gold.

If I could address one of the points you make here (others have mentioned it too)? The part where Sweeney says that the job of HC of the Bruins is a highly coveted one?
Is he wrong? Like… of course it is. I don’t know what I’m missing. There are only 32 of these jobs in the world. And in comparison to the rest of the league, the Bruins have a recent history of being an enviable franchise. Original Six club with a widespread, passionate fanbase. Before Montgomery punched his own ticket out, Julien (nearly 10) and Cassidy (6) combined for nearly 16 years between them, which is job security almost unheard of in today’s NHL. That’s a desirable position.
He will be okay. It'll be a good team. Not great perhaps, but hopefully worth watching.I feel sorry for Pasta.
One hopes.my undying love for Lou aside, and despite feeling like Sweeney is way too smug, meh whatever fine - maybe this past season will act as a needed dose of humility and he’ll do ok
He could always try to force a trade. Might be for the best to be honest. He deserves to be on a team that is serious about winning a cup.I feel sorry for Pasta.
Naaah, if the ship goes down, there will be a Norwegian Cruise Line ship waiting to pick him up. It's really hard in the NHL to be exiled. Sooner or later there is always another team waiting for all recyclables to be saved and put back in service.Whelp he is officially attached to this retool, rebuild whatever the hell the next fancy word for fixing the team is called. It’s up to him to right the ship or go down with the titanic.
Oh yeah, just meant Bruins organization. He’d be picked up by another team eventually.Naaah, if the ship goes down, there will be a Norwegian Cruise Line ship waiting to pick him up. I think he is a very smart analytical mind in the game and will make a great General Manager in the future. Why?

While for nostalgia purposes I’d miss complaining about reaching for safe 3rd and 4th liners in the draft I don’t think I’d miss Sweeney. They should have cleaned house after the season. Unfortunately that didn’t happen.Oh yeah, just meant Bruins organization. He’d be picked up by another team eventually.
They weren’t cleaning house after one bad season. While for nostalgia purposes I’d miss complaining about reaching for safe 3rd and 4th liners in the draft I don’t think I’d miss Sweeney. They should have cleaned house after the season. Unfortunately that didn’t happen.
Ah yes, the guy who can't draft for shit is now going to retool while primarily relying on draft picks.
Useless ass Jacobs family.
I look forward to the 8x13 they're going to give Marner.
What makes you feel that way? What, exactly, has he done to make you feel that we can’t possibly lose him?I think he is a very smart analytical mind in the game and will make a great General Manager in the future.
