Management Don Sweeney extended 2 years

Ah yes, the guy who can't draft for shit is now going to retool while primarily relying on draft picks.

Useless ass Jacobs family.

I look forward to the 8x13 they're going to give Marner.

We’d only be so lucky if they signed Marner. Also, can only go 7 years.

This was the right move.

Now hire Donskov and let Evan Gold have a larger say as well and give him a larger say in the moves this of-season to keep him in Boston.

Coach should get three years as well and let's see what they can do in the next three years.

I wouldn’t be opposed to:

President of the Boston Bruins = Cam Neely
Note: this role has zero to do with team decisions

President of Hockey Ops = Don Sweeney

GM = Evan Gold

AGM = No Clue / Bergy? Chara?

One day….

2015 aside, he’s actually made a lot of great picks (and 2015 wasn’t all bad, once upon a time Carlo was a very good dman and DeBrusk while a reach worked out pretty well, and don’t forget Zboril was ranked where he was picked)

2014 a lot of the was Sweeney working with scouting team behind the scenes, grabbed Donato, Heinen, and Pasta

2016 we got McAvoy and Lindgren , as much as we didn’t love Frederic’s end here he had some spells of good play and at 29th he’s still in the nhl and playing for a cup contender, someone else here has the stat but I don’t believe players picked even that late have a high percentage of playing the number of games Frederic has

2017 we got Vaak who was ranked around there, sure he shoulda taken the big body center but Vaak became a playwr and was enough of an asset to entice Ducks to send us Hampus who’s even better

2018 we didn’t have much available but grabbed Lauko who became a player and is doing well at the worlds right now

2019 probably his worst year tbh

2020 we got Lorhei who has a ton of talent and became a player albeit young and rough around the edges, Kuntar and Duran show promise

Jury still out on 2021 on, but Lysell, Poitras, Locmelis are all good to great picks, especially Locmelis who was a slam dunk by Sweeney and co considering where he was selected

The irony is if Sweeney picked DeBrusk, Connor, Chabot in 2015 he’d be seen as a perennial GM of the year and the bruins likely are right up there with Florida and certainly pushing Tampa for a cup 2016-2023

The truth is Sweeney is pretty good at his job and this final 3 years will be the pivot point for his legacy. One of the reasons I love hockey is we get to also see how things shake out off the ice, I’m excited

If you aren’t excited (and not you specifically just the royal you, to partially quote the Dude) then I suggest finding a new hobby and working on therapy. Life is too short to get that bent out of shape on this stuff, it’s a fun sport that should bring joy to your life. Don’t waste time on things that are a net negative.
At best, IMO DS gets a C- for his tenure.
You forgot to include the large overpay he gave to:
Elias Lindholm
Hampus Lindholm
Zadorov
Locmelis has yet to play a game in the NHL so we do not know what we have yet.
Potsy seemed to regress last year at the NHL level. He bounced back with decent numbers in the AHL. I think we have a decent third line center with him.
Lohrei, I really like as he has nice skill and I see potential. However, he still needs a ton of work to improve his defensive game. He should be a third pair dee at this point in his career and second line PP time. I think he can develop into a second pair dee.
Lysell is a huge question mark. If he cannot make the team out of camp this year, this will be another wasted first round pick.
Kuntar and Duran are fourth line players at best and have yet to prove they belong in the NHL. Kuntar scored 3 goals in 54 games this season in the AHL.
The trend we are seeing with DS at the helm is that they can draft players that can play in the NHL, however, other than Pasty, we have no first line forwards, maybe one second line player in Geekie and a bunch of third and fourth liners.
When you cannot draft talent, you have to overpay in free agency and roll the dice, hoping the signings pan out.
We need a radical change in the way we draft, starting this season, need to hit on our first round pick with a top 6 forward and hit on at least one other player with our next picks that can crack the top six, or top four dee in the years to follow.

too much speculation and back and forth to get into it with you on the young kids

but ill bite on the NHL players

Hampus Lindholm overpaid? lol. Definitely not

Elias, jury is out, Im not gonna judge him on one year the entire team was ass aside from Pasta. He is continuing to be scorching hot from his end of season play into the worlds. If he gives you 65-85 points and great defense and PK's then that's a great value contract.

Disagree on Zaddy, he was one of the lone bright spots this past year and became a leader when the team needed it most

Kinda feels like your view on dollar value is a bit dated, maybe by about 5 years. Cap is going to be very high over the next few years.

''entire team was ass''
Brought to you by Sweeney.

brought to you by;

Monty being an absolute turn coat worm, Hampus' rare kneecap break, and team USA f***ing up McAvoy's health care

no doubt in my mind Bruins slip in to the 7th or 8th seed if Hampus and McAvoy are healthy, and probably end up upsetting Washington on top of it

That's all Sweeney too. What Bruins fans see now is from Sweeney. That is a fact. And Neely.

How long do you think Lysell would have lasted in that game last night?

I think you might have SDS (Sweeney Derangement Syndrome)

sure, Ill put part of the blame on Sweeney for hiring Monty, but it's a business and loyalty is extremely rare. He could have told Sweeney he'd stay here for a minimum of 5 years and then change his mind

It's sweeney's fault lindholm took a puck off his kneecap? Lol

It's Sweeney's fault team USA was reckless with Charlie's injury? ok

Lysell? in game 1 of Carolina vs Florida? Probably better than you think but I question why that's even your main concern. Lysell is many things but a little wimp isn't one of them.

If you sign UFA's, you overpay. Same for every GM.

''entire team was ass''

You said it. Who is responsible for the state of the team?

2015 draft and acquiring old hurt turtles Nash/ Backes sucked but everything else has been good. Deserved contract and I consider him one of the elite GMs in the league. Move on from Neely.

The overpays in those cases are mostly due to the amount of term he gave them.

Generally speaking, I don't like giving upper-to-mid-tier players (which is what these guys are) a pile of term into their mid-to-late 30s. 9 times out of 10 it will turn out badly.

do you view the world as black and white or?

you also dodged the questions I posed. One more chance, further shallow responses and I won't engage with you anymore, it's not feeling interesting or enriching thus far
I think you might have fDS (frankiess Derangement Syndrome)

It's hockey. It's understanding that the state of the team, not including listed injuries, leads back to Sweeney.

How long, in your opinion, will it take Sweeney to take the Bruins from ''ass'', to contender? Anybody? Anybody know the time it takes a draft pick to become NHL ready?

''sure, Ill put part of the blame on Sweeney for hiring Monty, but it's a business and loyalty is extremely rare. He could have told Sweeney he'd stay here for a minimum of 5 years and then change his mind''
Extremely rare? It's a good ole boys club. How do you know what was said?

''Probably better than you think but I question why that's even your main concern.''
No, Bennett would crush him. Because Sweeney drafted him. To play against Florida in the playoffs?

Did you watch the Florida - Carolina game last night? Another forearm shiver from Ekblad to the head of another guy. A Tkachuk shoulder to one guys face. No calls. That's what a team has to beat. How do you beat it? You tell me Knight.
