Why does it have to Sweeny as the GM? Oh well. 3 more years of mediocrity here we come.Winner winner chicken dinner
I'll be doing handstands if that happens 102 point winger yes please. Takes off pressure from pasta large .Ah yes, the guy who can't draft for shit is now going to retool while primarily relying on draft picks.
Useless ass Jacobs family.
I look forward to the 8x13 they're going to give Marner.
Ah yes because as we know, championships are won in March.I'll be doing handstands if that happens 102 point winger yes please. Takes off pressure from pasta large .
I dont think he was the main reason for their failure in playoffs. The guys racks up points hes not a emotional leader but a excellent complimentary player that can help a team that has no scoring punch. We are putrid at that department.Ah yes because as we know, championships are won in March.
Noted 9x regular season champion Mitch Marner.

I actually thought you were referring to the team that went to game 7 of the cup final. The 22/23 team was definitely stacked on paper. He only inherited 4 out of 22+ players on that team.
And its really not an exaggeration. We had Taylor Hall and Tyler Bertuzzi playing on the third line for cryin out loud lol.
Absolutely.I haven’t seen that from DB. But I could be wrong.
Just because some fans get more upset about not winning then others does not mean they “Don’t care”. Under any circumstances. At the end of the day our comments here have zero impact on the teams outcomes.
If it’s cathartic to complain then complain it’s your right. But to be dismissive of other fans who choose not to bang their heads against the wall seems to be taking it too far to me.
And yet, for some reason, it’s allowed to continue. You know what doesn't get discussed enough with Sweeney? That the lack of picks (and therefore lack of prospects) is not simply a matter of "they traded picks to improve the team every deadline." They moved some fantastic, valuable high picks to unload his shitty free agent signings, the worst kind of double GM whammy.
I don't know. I can see that, obviously.Marner's not coming to Boston, he will want to go a media light team like Utah.
Donny knows him well from 4 nations so that might be something there plus Donny isnt hiding he wants to strengthen wings big time.I don't know. I can see that, obviously.
But he may be interested in a passionate fan base in a traditional market. As long as he gets paid. And I mean, "paid.*
I have no illusions or long-term expectations for Mitch Marner. But I would pay him every cent he wants. Simply to make things a bit more interesting and enjoyable while the Bruins reconstruct the ship.
Sweeney goes through good Head coaches like underwear , what coach worth having is going to sign up to be Sweeneys scapegoat goat?
I don't think it works that way.i would imagine contracts are organization dependent, besides anything can have clauses added. Job security not dependent on current GM.
the bottom line is, whoever is making the calls, needs to have an overall organizational vision that doesn't change regardless of if sweeney is here or not - the only question is whether sweeney can make the vision happen. It doesn't change because he's gone
generally the vision should be - speed, skill, grit, intimidation. always now and forever.
Agreed entirely.I don’t teach ELA but I know my students focused on critical examples of hyperbole in literature at points this year and they would definitely be Leo Point Meming your post right now
Sweeney fired;
Claude, a guy who had been here a long time and was past his expiration date while the team missed the playoffs and failed to make them again
Then stuck with a guy for 6 years after that, went to bat for him when there was a mutiny in the room, and was forced to let him go - and this was after *several* disappointing exits (Julien never lost a series in less than 7) where as Cassidy lost 2 series in 5 games and 1 in 6, one of which was to arguably the lesser team
Then hired a guy he gave a chance who had promise and then this same guy chose himself to quit on the team because misses Monty wanted to vacation in the ozarks
Not exactly your classic case of upper management chewing through site bosses….
I don't think it works that way.
A team's "philosophy" emanates from its general manager/president of hockey operations, if not ownership.
Whatever animates the GM and president, good or ill, is what shows up on the ice.
A fish, as I repeat frequently in this space, rots from the head. The reverse is true as well; good management, good team.
I'm as big of a Sweeney hater as the next but this is one narrative I kind of disagree with. Claude was here for 10 seasons (albeit Sweeney was only GM for 3 of those seasons, assistant GM the rest), Bruce lasted 5 seasons and Jim lasted 2 and a handful only because he had one foot out the door on his own already. According to ESPN the average lifespan of an NHL head coach is 2 and a half-ish seasons, so going off of that metric I'd say the Bs hold on to coaches longer than most. I think the reason it seems like he goes through more coaches than most is because most GMs don't last as long as he has to be able to fire as many coaches.Sweeney goes through good Head coaches like underwear , what coach worth having is going to sign up to be Sweeneys scapegoat goat?
Sweeney went for it and sold the future down the road two of the last three deadlines. That fact alone blows up their opinion on the clubs goals. Just stupid to even say that.good stuff
It’s interesting how different fan bases react to coaches.
If Rod Brind’Amour coached in Boston he’d have been fired long ago. 8 seasons of being one of the best teams in the league and 7 straight second round losses. Fans would be saying he can’t win in the playoffs. Carolina only cares about making the playoffs… People here would lose their f***ing minds over the ‘lack of accountability’ for him not being able to win it all.
Like many GMs around the league, he’s had some great moves, good moves, bad moves and dreadful moves.
I think Neely is the bigger issue at the end of the day.
Sweeney is on his last leg here. If they struggle these next two seasons, he’s probably finished — at least I’d like to think so.
I don’t love him. I don’t hate him. I’m kind of itching for new blood but he’s earned the right to at least attempt to right the ship.
I would love to compare his coaching fires vs other organization. I also doubt harry fired 12 coaches.Sweeney goes through good Head coaches like underwear , what coach worth having is going to sign up to be Sweeneys scapegoat goat?
