Management Don Sweeney extended 2 years

No head coach candidate is going to sign with a team whose GM is on the least year of their deal. At the very least, this says they're moving on from Sacco as head coach (but will still force the new head coach to take him and Leach as assistants.)
You may be correct, but I'm not sure.

It wouldn't surprise at all if they left Sacco hanging, just in case.

Joking?
They missed the playoffs for like 4 straight seasons before he was finally canned.

They had 4 top 10 overall picks and spent them on
Lafreniere 1st overall
Kakko 2nd overall
Kravtsov
Lias Andersson
They had to do a rebuild shortly a couple years after they hired him and then they fired him when the team was ready to compete. They made the conference finals in two of the next three seasons with the team Gorton built.

Every GM would've picked Lafreniere and from what I remember Kakko was the unanimous #2 his draft year. Gorton also drafted K'Andre Miller, Braden Schneider and Nils Lundqvist in the 1st round and Will Cuylle in the second round.

We should be retooling one more year in this deep draft. Maybe you get lucky and get McKenna but no, Sweeney will want to save his job and patch the team and try to make the playoffs.
What a terrible time to be a Bruins fan, we will be a middle ground team for a while.
Got a time machine?

Step back to the OC era, never mind latter day Sinden.

That was as bad as it's ever been.

Worse by far than the Basement Bruins years before #4 arrived to deliver Boston to the promised land.

Extending Sweeney adds stability, which is useful, and otherwise doesn't bother me because sports contracts are meaningless aside from the money. If Don totally screws up this offseason and the team sucks next year, he can still be fired. Conversely if he does well then happy days and the Bruins have some good management security going forwards.

One of the most stacked rosters in the cap era lol. That's an exaggeration even without taking into consideration that Sweeney inherited most of the roster. His drafting has been bad in general and he made some completely boneheaded trades his first few years here. He has made good trades too and generally does well in contract negotiations.
He only inherited 4 out of 22+ players on that team.

And its really not an exaggeration. We had Taylor Hall and Tyler Bertuzzi playing on the third line for cryin out loud lol.

It would align with a new coach as well, 3 years each. The "big" coaches seem to get 5 years, so I guess it will be Leach or Sacco, unless a first timer wants to get his feet wet.

Yeah it probably would. But give me the new guy please, and not Leach or Sacco. Aim high and take a risk rather than stick with known mediocrities. Is that the Bruins way though?

One game from a cup and he would be a hero. 2023 he went all and did spectacular moves to help that history making president trophy. It's not all his fault .
I’ll give him props on 23, made some solid moves at the deadline, just didn’t pan out. But his failures outweigh his successes imo. Should’ve been fired at the end of 23.

He did have some decent teams. More worried about his drafting chops. He seems to find useful third/fourth liner hopefuls but he needs to be able to hit a top 6 guy or 2 as well as top 4 defenseman going forward. His draft history is bleh but he did not have as many higher draft picks like he does now. I have no problem giving him a chance it’s only two years and can always be fired at anytime too
For years under Sweeney, they would project their draftees as third or fourth line material.

They would say this. Witness Trent Frederic.
