some people have kids who idolize hockey players. It's not completely unreasonable to want a superstar to make a few sound bites before or after the game.
not everything he says ends up in the paper, or on the radio...you do realize that, right?

How many other players on the club haven't had a post game interview in the same span? Why are we not talking about them? Because Brennan is creating a story. That's not his job. His job is to report stories not, take part in them or manufsture them.
These are the tactics of the Fox and Friends of the world. We should not stand idly and be fed this trite. That goes for a lot more than just sports. That goes for their entire media empire.

Lots but their names arent Erik Karlsson. I don't see how he is creating a story. The story is there. Karlsson publicly tweeted he had a sucky year then didnt participate in scrums. Brennan can write whatever he wants. Look I hate Brennan, but this is getting out of hand. You guys are making the story much worse then it ever was.

I highly doubt even 1 sponsor will pull out of TSN 1200 simply because Don Brennan does occasional spots. People are acting like we have someone spewing hate speech over the airways. He's just some beat writer for a small market hockey team that occasionally says something stupid. No reason for people to get their knickers in a knot.
22 years of the Ottawa Senators franchise and the one constant has been the sub-par media. We've gone through owners, GMs, captains, players, etc. but have had the same group of 'reporters' getting by with nothing but cheap gags and game day summaries. It's gone stagnant to say the least.
And this isn't meant as a broad brush - I have loads of respect for the few actual journalists in this city who show professionalism and respect for the medium through their work. The problem is - like one bad cop can bring down a force; or one bad teacher ruin a schools reputation - the whole group suffers a black eye when these stunts are pulled. "The **** smears" - so to say.

There are significantly less soundbites, quotes and etc from the media in fact the only ones i can find are from after colorado game. I havent done a huge amount of research but i do find it strange that in a stretch of 6 wins we only have quotes from him from one game so it's quite reasonable for me to believe he hasnt been available...Maybe he just hasnt said anything interesting in all those post game scrums? Maybe the reporters get their stuff during 1 on 1s instead of the scrum?

I wasn't into super heroes. I wasn't into mega star bands. I was into hockey. And as such, they were my idols.
Hockey players are arguably the most tame professionals of the major sports. I have no problem letting my (future) kids idolize them. At least they are real people who you may have a slight chance of meeting one day. Not some fictitious character like Wolverine or something.

From having met JR and Steve Warne, here's the deal with those guys:
They have some sort of false sense of superiority, I assume because they are heard, attend events, rub elbows with people in the sports industry etc. Having witnessed them in action, when in those situations, for example, the grand opening or Real Sports, they act almost starstruck, kind of like little sidekicks in admiration of their hero. But whatever, that's their thing and if they have to act like teenage girls at a Bieber concert, then whatever.
The problem is that it's disingenuous because they turn around and treat the listeners, which is who they should appreciate the most, like we don't know anything or our opinion is ours alone, they're right, we're wrong. It's called social climbing.
The thing is, we've seen people move up in their line of work, wether locally, nationally, whatever. But just for example, in our market, Galley, York and Mendes all got in front of them in the "depth chart", if you will. So whatever they're doing, people can see. They're small time local radio hacks that will never move up anywhere because:
a) They're knowledge of the game is very limited
b) They have nos respect for their audience
c) They're so far into their own "clique" that they think Don Brennan is a good interview.
I actually prefer Don Brennan, even if he is a bit of a ******, not afraid of going against the grain as opposed to those two ball sucking clowns.
Just do as I do, stop listening. All they talk about is what they read on here anyway, and there's some way more genuine and knowledgeable people on HF
