Line Combos: Don’t Touch PP1. It’s Good. Very Good.

I'm seeing a lot of wacky so let's get this straight.

We have 2 options. #1 is keep it the same.

Option 2 is...

Kreider
Panarin - Zib - Tarasenko
Fox

I've made it clear I vote to keep it the same. I want to emphasize Zib's shot from his wheelhouse (call me crazy!) I want to emphasize Panarin's slot line passing (call me crazy!) But you guys are so fixated on having two one-timer options (albeit sacrificing our best one-timer shooter to do so) so this is what we have. Hope it works. Hope it gets you cised.

I created the thread here. Tarasenko’s playmaking/shooting ability off the wall changes things….

I am comfortable going:

Kreider
Zibanejad - Trocheck - Tarasenko
Fox/Miller

Lafreniere
Panarin - Kakko - Chytil
Fox/Miller

Even time for both units.

Fox always starts with each unit.

I give up.

Vally said today that he doesn't think Chytil will stick on PP1 due to the left handed shot thing. Vally gets geometry.

So when Gallant makes the switch, it's not cause he hates kids.

Its been red hot since he joined it, geometry be damned

The goal line play to Zib has produced 3 goals and the guy in the bumper has an effect on that play not at all. The only thing I’ve seen from Chytil on the PP is some stuffed zone entries. Not saying that’s the reason to remove him. Him being a lefty is the reason to remove him.

Eventually they will revert because it's stupid to have a lefty in the bumper but the 2nd unit now has the appropriate handedness whether they have Lafreniere or Trocheck down low. We'll see how long they stick with this setup.

I don't give an S about the handedness on the 2nd unit. That unit doesn't make its bones on funneling from Panarin to Zib. That unit just gets some milk and cookies when the first unit is done dominating.

The one PP we had last night looked awesome at one point, even though they didn't score.

The Kravtsov thread disappeared, but to address the question that was asked to me...

If we can keep scoring exclusively on that play at like a 50% clip then no it doesn't matter. Just like you can put left handed throwing dudes out at SS and 3B if the pitcher is gonna throw a perfect game with 27 strikeouts. But in the long run it makes no sense not to have the righty bumper on PP1.

There's absolutely no reason to go back to an ineffective powerplay when this one is working great. I dont care if he's got no hands, if it aint broke don't fix it. It didnt work with Trochek, they forced it all year, enough is enough

Then call up Carpenter.

Enough. When the playoffs start we have to ride PP1 and we need Trocheck in the bumper. Cut the S.
