The number of super cheap one-year contracts handed out to crappy players over recent years has not been much of an issue. In most cases the player didn't work out and nothing was lost other than the low amount of money. Moore actually did work out and ended up playing his role well. If he is re-signed on the cheap and gives some depth and leadership to the fourth line, great. Injuries happen and it's not a bad idea to have some quality depth. If it looks like he is cooked and is not able to be effective, then no big deal. He won't play and the Bs can fill his spot.

Moore had 1 assist in the entire 1st round series and brought little-to-no physicality.

Kuraly had 2 important goals (you remember them) is bigger and faster and finished a lot of checks.

Watching Kuraly bring the puck to the net hard and with speed was a complete breath of fresh air. If it comes down to Kuraly and Moore (it does, with Nash still around) then I'll take Kuraly over this version of Moore... it isn't "ageism" to admit that he is past his prime.

I remember people penciling in Florek for the following season after his "solid" performance against Detroit in the playoffs. Trotman was also drawing a lot of praise if I remember correctly.

Fast, big, physical is good. The lack of production at lower levels still has me skeptical. He's 24 years old after all. I'd like to see a larger sample in the NHL.

If he plays like that on a consistent basis. He doesn't have to worry about some 1-year vet like Moore.

That's actually a really good point. That being said, I wasn't high on either of those guys (and I really, reaaaaally didn't like Trotman at all) so I don't suffer from the 'shiny new toy syndrome' I just want a bigger, faster, more physical 4th line.

I don't really see much room for him, but if he's willing to come back as the 12th/13th forward I'm game. He brought a lot of good to the team and still seems to have some left in him.

I dont see an issue with it. Curious of the price but Im sure it wouldnt be bad.

I feel as though, as other posters have said, some are putting waaay too much stock into Kuraly. Kid had some great games in the playoffs. But lets see how he does with joining the club in the season.

Signing Moore for one more year and letting them battle it out all season/fill in when injuries occur as they do.

I know this club has had issues with filling the fourth line with veterans on rather extensive contracts rather than kids but I really dont see one more year of Moore hurting this club. Guy was a strong PKer and put the puck in the net a good amount of times for a guy on the fourth line.

Yes to the Dominic Moore we saw in the first half of the season, but he looked gassed in the second half and playoffs, may be time to move on from him and let younger guys fill that 4th line role Acciari, Kuraly, Blidh etc.

He's great at his role.

As long as we DO NOT ever have him playing above 4th line center, and he comes cheap, it's a good move. If not... no thanks. Move on. Anything under 1.25M per year is ok with me and on par for the skillset.

This. If Sweeneys signing him to play 4th line duties then I'm 100% in.

Good call on Florek. A lot more relevant than my Darren Van Impe example.

he's ok, but 1 year was enough. Too many Hayes, Beleskey, Moore type player who will have a good game once a month, but wouldn't be considered a good option a cup contending team.

Hayes and Beleskey wish they could contribute as much as Moore has on his contract.
