Prospect Info: Dominic James, UMD F, 2022 173rd overall

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Former teammate and linemate with Aiden Thompson (3rd round pick, 2022) in the USHL. Currently playing with Wyatt Kaiser (3rd round pick, 2020) and Connor Kelley (7th round pick, 2021) with Minnesota Duluth. Gotta be a thrill to have that many ties with guys you know.

Made the U20 USA team as a 4th line checker and PKer with a re-invite for the rescheduled U-20 for this August.

Good wheels and gritty for his size. May slot in as a 2nd line center for UMD this coming season.

No shortage of gritty types in this draft----got to be impressed with the skills of the first 2 picks, but next year, you hope for some higher end skill in a big way (Bedard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I tore my left labrum trying to check a swing in college.....shoulders are wonky.

Maybe would've turned pro if he didn't get injured, but he'll for sure need another college season now to get back in shape

Something tells me he'll make the big show.....seems like a great 4th line player----imaging him, Savoie and Pharand wreaking some high energy, speed havoc on opposing teams.

He'll sign and he's going to surprise people. Kids a good player, with great effort, good wheels----he'll carve out a 3rd or 4th line spot......might even keep Savoie in the AHL longer.

There is some talk out there that the Hawks are hesitant to have him play games this year because of Greene, Moore, Rinzel, Thompson, etc. He wants to burn the year (obviously). We'll see what happens here.

Ok if they do not want to burn his contract ,the same thoughts go for Rinzek Greene Moore and Thompson...though I think they should leave Moore in school 1 more season though maybe get hom to transfer portal to anithervsvhool if Minn refuses to use himas a 1C in a more offensive gobto role..

In any case if all these guys sign ,the 9th game remaining is Sunday March 39th...if they alk sign after that,it eliminates the "burning" issue..

Then too all thse guys cannot pkay forthe Hawks at the same time(limited roster spots)...
Not sure about how many Rockford coukdcabsorb either all at once..

Given roster limits it may be several will have to wait till next season anyway to gain roster spots either in Chicago or on Rockford ,as roster spots will then be made open as guys currently on rosters are cut or not re-signed or are traded this summer.

Maybe Rockford could send sone guys out to a lower league (is Indianapolis of the EHL still an affiliate?) To make room now for any infusion...but unless that happens, hard to fit all these guys on rosters

Still...the burning is for any count above 9GP in the NHL this season...Hawks coukd sign pkayersand just practice them abdvonlynpkayvthem upto a max if the final 8 games remaining g..
So the issue must be team roster limits...finding open spots to add pkayers.

Dickinson out rear of season creates 1 open forwardxspit...Maybe put Dach on OR est of season wouldxakkowxax2nd forwardcto infuse ...Retire Maroon early before finish couldopen a 3rd spot.

Coukd send any of Bedard Nazar Slaggert down and open more spots..

Could end Lev down and outbunRonzel with no extra roster spot needed.i fvthey do not want to burn the Lev cobtractvitbiscwhat they should do.

Howvwr I doubt tey want all 6 comtract expire at same time (Lev,Rinzel,Moore Greene James and Thompson)..so maybevthey are considering staggering some of these..in that case maybevtgey should burn on Lev and should be burning on James or one of the others if they can sign and play then by the March 30th game?

That means Hawks hoping Minnesota or Boston U.or Denver gets eliminated in their first (and this only) game in the NCAA Regionals...

If thise teNs advance to next roubd any hope of staggering contracts might be limited to Lev and maybeto James if they sign him now before tinevrins out.

It seems complicated.

I think I saw Hawks were at 42 of 50 maximum contracts..So on that score if this is the correct number Hawks can sign all 6 and still have 2 contracts left...but can make more room buying out or not re-signibg current players plus any legacy contracts coming off the books if any..

I don't know exactly how it all works but I think these late college player signings don't need 9 games. Nazar only played 3 and he burned a year in his contract. He signed a 3 year deal and is an RFA after 25-26 season per Puckpedia.
