Are the Debbies stupid? Hughes has had his season cut short by injury in two of the previous three season. He hurt his knee one year and suffered a hand/wrist injury last season. Didn't the Rangers sweep them last season and the Debbies finish near the bottom of the standings? Trouba was smacking them around like flies and they were crying about it. Rempe nearly maimed Bastian.

I hope the Rangers build a team which dumps both Hughes brothers into the east river.

The state follows the Rangers.

Surely it wasn't as bad as the box score?

Five nothing and only 12 shots, it couldn't have been that bad in real life could it?

But on a serious note this is exactly what I expected when they finally went after kreider. This is the war that I said was coming since prior to Thanksgiving. Now you have it right in front of you...

I dont know anything about what goes on behind the scenes, but my gutfeeling is that they need to get trade Kreider while he can still fetch a premium for him

Watch in that 4 nations tournament how much better he will look... I feel like he's mailed in all season

We flipped some states blue there. West Virginia and Kentucky even know what hockey is?

The way forward: Move Zib to wing - he "replaces" kakko. trade kreider, smith, ad panarin.

find a C. you don't need a superstar. look at Dylan Strome. you need someone good enough, like trocheck.

Find an LD. Obviously jettison Lindgren.

Get a modern coach. let the kids play fast physical simple hockey. Trocheck leads the way.

Lafreniere C Perreault
Cuylle Chytil Zibanejad
Othmann Trocheck Berard
Edstrom Carrick Whoever

LD Fox
Miller Schneider
Vaak Borgen

amass picks and keep moving with a new coach.

How anyone can defend Chris Drury is a f***ing joke. Yes, the coaching sucks. Yes, the players suck. Yes, everyone sucks. But who put this team together? Who assembled this team? Who HAD TO HAVE Will Borgen?

Drury should be fired today. I don't care that it's almost Christmas. He'll continue getting paid. He should be fired right now.
2nd game in a row with Borgen being the worst lol.

I know he hasn't been that bad, but that's sad still.

Meanwhile in Seattle... I know hockeystatcards is mostly a glorified +/- chart but this is still funny.

Didn’t watch, and I’m glad I missed it. This team has turned into the same festering ass sore as the 2022-23 Calgary Flames. They’re all miserable, nobody can get anyone to connect, and it ain’t getting better.

If only we knew that hiring Laviolette would lead to the wheels falling off, right? Oh wait, it happens everywhere he goes. I set the over/under at 18 months last May about this hire leading to Drury’s demise. Feels like I’m only going to be off by one month on that prediction.

Who here now wishes K'Miller were playing? lol

It's not even that I wish KAM were playing, but my god, you still got f***ing Lindgren stapled to Fox playing the 2nd most D-men minutes.

I don't blame Lindgren for most of the woes we're having, but as soon as that dude got back in the lineup with his motorcycle helmet, and the D all had to shift, that's when things went downhill.

The most important impact a head coach and coaching staff makes is get buy-in on a certain way of playing and to get the players to be disciplined and stick to the structure and not go freelance on your own on the ice. More than improving individual skills or whatnot. Head coaches have said before it's not their job to develop players, it's their job to ice the lineup he thinks is best to win a game that night.

But, it's their job to implement the best system according to the individuals and overall roster that he has. The teaching is done through practice drills and individual meetings and meeting with player development people behind the scenes. Getting buy-in to play within an established structure brings together a group that's more than the sum of individual parts. Finding which players does best in which roles also contributes to that impact. Head coaches don't make players better. The systems they put in, the way they can influence how things are done on and off the ice, and the culture they can get the leaders on the team to pass around to others is what they need to do to grow a winning team. Coaches can't play for the players, but you can't say that coaches don't mean much to wins or losses.

Also, you have a much better chance of taking a lower-level superstar and maybe he learns how to play defense, than you do of taking a solid but unspectacular lower-level player and hoping he stays solid but unspectacular in the f***ing NHL.
And both happen but “low ceiling” players so often seem no more likely overall to become a regular NHL player in any capacity than high ceiling players.

At least, in this day and age. And the best 4th liners are like Dominic Moore- they have enough raw skill to not be a huge liability is promotion is ever necessary

It's easy to dissect the high-profile picks and see exactly what you could have had.

Being realistic, I don't know if any of Laf, Kakko, or Kravtsov were changing Rangers history if they were a different pick. For the former two, it never would have been a different pick, so it's bupkis.

The biggest miss was Andersson, and even then, who drafted after him is winning a Hart? Maybe you argue Jason Robertson is that good (he isn't) and that was 32 picks later, so it's not realistic.
I think people wanted Middlestat but he took years to become a good player and my guess would be the Rangers would have sold on him before then.
I think a bigger issue, overall, is not going for more swings with later picks.

We always seem to go for floor if we go past like, pick 20. Beyond the first round, the Rangers aren't looking at you if you're under 6'3", and it's usually some "devil you know" CHL player. The one time they took a flier on a #MysteriousRussian (Buchnevich) he was pretty good actually.

I remember having the discussion after the most recent draft where people panned the Emery pick. "Oh, what do you want at 30?" Anybody who could be anything, not a guy that maybe is Brenden Dillon if everything goes right. There's no possible scenario where EJ Emery's ceiling player is the missing piece and you can't like, just sign him or trade for him.

Keep going with that draft. Boilard puts up ok numbers but he's 6'2". If he was that talented, he would have been gone. Aspinall is another big f***er. Maybe he's Adam Edstrom someday!!

I know I'm critiquing a bunch of random kids we just drafted in June, but realistically, which one of them is gonna be Brayden Point or Kirill Kaprisov? Look at 2023 (after GP). A defensive defenseman and bunch of tall f***ers. Where's your Nikita Kucherov from that group? They already don't have the numbers.
Yeah agree here, I get wanting that safe pick and the team does need those players (who pan out) but they don't seem willing to take a swing on other guys until the late rounds and most of the really talented guys are gone by then.

I swear to god if they bring Perrault in and are like "gotta learn how to play defense on the 3rd line sonny" we should just give up on this team
