I agree with all of this. And you're right Panarin wasn't good enough in the playoffs. I believe it was a combination of him not being healthy, trying to do too much on his own, and his linemates not being effective enough.Ok. So let’s pull this thread.
Panarin to me was the most egregiously ineffective of our stars, but the bottom line is that we lost because their top guns outplayed ours. We didn’t lose because they were deeper or got better goaltending.
So, moving forward, these are the things that need to happen for the Rangers to win the Cup:
1. Our stars play better than the other team’s stars next time.
2. The kids become our stars and play better than the other team’s stars.
3. The kids improve, our stars hold par, but we win because of overwhelming depth.
We’re in a Trocheck thread. I don’t think he factors into this, unless his presence enables my #1 to happen.
I am personally very, very excited to see what the kids look like next year.
I think Trocheck will make an impact. I'm not against the player at all. I liked him even when he was with FLA. I'm not sure 7 years is the best thing. But, it's whatever at this point. He's a clear upgrade to both Strome and Copp.
