and still no 2C since Staal lol
Danault/Suzuki were 1/2 C that playoff run. Staal was last in ice time per game for forwards.
and still no 2C since Staal lol
We'll just have to disagree budWhy Lucky? We had a team build for the playoff
Tampa were lucky to have Hedman and Vasilevsky then?
Weber and Price were elite caliber. They had a monstrous defensive. Petry was a top 3 dman and we had Chiarot and Edmundson. They were excellent defensively.
There was no luck at all in 2021.
The problem is Bergevin decided to build a team very too late.
No luck at all???????? We were 18th in the league, playing in the easiest division? Why Lucky? We had a team build for the playoff

We did the playoff no matter we were in Canadian division. We beat Vegas on another one. We added a Caufield on fire. Pretty sure we beat Washington if we added a player like Caufield just at the beginning of the playoff. No luck at all???????? We were 18th in the league, playing in the easiest division?
TB abused the cap and the LTIR stuff, that we can agree on....
Story of Price’s career. Every time he was healthy he’s carrying the team through improbable win streaks, every time injured the team was breaking historic suckage. They were 18th the year Price took them on a run..........in a normal year they do not even make da playoff.
The very next year, no Price, we are a 32nd place team.....too many years of being run by a dude who thought hey make da playoff and who knows.
Not sustainable as we saw............he was shown the door. Thank the lord.
Trying not to look back and think of Price's career wasted.
Was Price not part of the team?No it was all Price stop that shit.
I feel it's more that many fans can't give credit to any team that relies on good goaltending. Even the cup winning '93 team, many fans will claim it was more lucky then being a good team. We even see it with today's team where it's only the heroics from Dobes/Monty that kept us out of the bottom 5.Among fans here the 2021 roster doesn't get enough credit because many people can't give Bergevin credit.
Which is completely irrational, the goalie is part of the team.I feel it's more that many fans can't give credit to any team that relies on good goaltending.
Add 2021 Price to the 2008 lineup and the Habs could have won the Cup. It would have been glorious!Add 2008 Kovalev to the lineup and we would have won that cup. It would have been glorious!

That, too. And yeah, it would have been glorious! 2008 was the best year of Montreal hockey in this century, by far.

Not sure we beat Detroit though. They were deep. The 2021 Lightnings don't compare.
My best guess is the 2012/2014 Kings.I would argue the 2021 lightning is the best team ever assembled in the cap era.

he wasnt part of the team, he was the team. Was Price not part of the team?
Take McDavid out of Edmonton and they are probably a tank team too. When one player is critical to your team it means your team lacks depth, it doesn't mean the team isn't any good.
Probably, werent they like 10% over the cap too?I would argue the 2021 lightning is the best team ever assembled in the cap era.
Thats is true for like, 99% of playoffs teams in history. The 1% being the 2010-2017 HabsAdd 2021 Price to the 2008 lineup and the Habs could have won the Cup. It would have been glorious!
My personal fav was the 89 edition (didn’t see the 70’s dynasty). They were absolutely expected to go all the way, and they played like it. Just a steady cruise to the finals and just couldn’t contain Gilmour. Such a great team we had.Following the Habs since there were 6 teams, my two favorite playoff runs were 1971 and 2021. Maybe because they were unexpected.
Adding several Cup winners to the roster that year brought a winning attitude into the locker room, rejuvenated the veterans already on the team and provided some role models for the younger players like Suzuki, Caufield, Romanov and Lekhonen.
