Does LA have pieces to move if needed at the deadline?

Looks like there might be some talented goalies on the market:

Miller
Kipper
Luongo

Does their cap hit and age make them less attractive than Bernier?

Still can't see us making any big splashes at the deadline.

Really not sure, with the way Muzzin and Ellerby to a lessor degree have been playing, that we need an extra D vet.

Still hoping Green or Mitchell come back soon.

TT could be a big trade for us already.

Luongo's value is in the toilet, so not him. The other two guys aren't signed for very long and have a history of being workhorses so their value should be pretty good. The bigger problem regarding goaltender value is that not too many teams need one and there are plenty of good guys coming available through UFA in the offseason.

The markets for Bernier and those three are different too. Miller and Kipper are for a team looking to make a playoff push this season and next. Bernier's market is with bad teams who don't have goaltending, who would look to lock him up long term. Luongo is in the same boat, but at the moment his value is nearly negative.

I think there are two types of buyers in the goalie market:

Type A: Team looking to add a veteran/experienced goalie, like Toronto, who have two inexperienced goalies right now in Reimer/Scrivens.

Type B: Team looking to build around a young goaltender who will be their starter over a long haul. Colorado did this in acquiring Varlamov. Teams like the Flames and Devils could be looking at a goalie who fits that bill as Brodeur doesn't have much gas left in his tank and the Flames have nobody ready to step in for Kiprusoff, who will likely be moved at some point this season.

Then you have a team like the Flyers who give no indication of what exactly they are going to be doing with their goaltending problems. They may buyout Bryzgalov as nobody will touch that contract, and then they might just act like fools again and spend all of their money on a free agent goalie, or just acquire another expensive option such as Luongo or Miller.

Luongo may be on the downside but I think he could improve with a change of scenery.

I agree about the goalie market, it will be flooded come free agency.

I'm a little concerned about moving Bernier. Hopefully DL will get something done at the draft. Are there any teams looking for goaltending that have multiple #1s?

So the targeted list may include:

Buffalo
Philly

Not right now. Columbus does but Bobrovsky looks like a stud, they don't need to deal.

Teams like Buffalo, Florida, Edmonton, Washington are likely to have a second #1 pick depending on the degree of their selling on deadline day. If Buffalo deals Miller I could see them having a lot of interest in JB.

Florida and Washington are interesting. Think both have young guys in their system trying to take over tho. Not sure how much faith they have in them now or if they might look to one of those vets to settle things down.

Yep. If Buffalo moves Miller, I don't think they have enough confidence in Enroth to entrust him with the starting role, so they may be looking at a new starting netminder.

I'd add Edmonton to the list if Dubnyk falters. Tampa Bay could also be in search for a goaltender yet again if Lindback continues to struggle in net for them.

Another team to keep an eye on is Florida, although I suspect that they'd want someone with more experience so that they could groom Markstrom as their future starter (if they don't ruin him, as he's been lit up a few times already).

The Islanders could also be shopping for some goaltending as Nabokov will be a UFA at the end of the season.

I heard NYI fans saying Nabokov is in negotiations to stay.

Edmonton
Tampa Bay
Florida
NYI

out of this group I'd say maybe Tampa Bay but I'd be very surprised

I think DL will get JB as close to home as possible while still getting a good deal in return if he can.

I haven't heard anything about JB since January so if he is moved before the playoffs I will be really surprised personally.

TG-From what you have heard, does it look like LA is looking to add or upgrade anywhere? Will we be looking to try shed some excess and pick up a few picks?

Not advocating trading for the sake of trading but it really looks like LA is kinda set for now.

We were in on a couple of things, one with Fla and one with Buff but that ended up being pretty well known. Something changed because we didn't pull the trigger then Fla and Buff ended up making a deal with each other (cut out the middle man DL I guess).

Will we make any moves? I haven't heard of anything specific but that doesn't mean anything really. As of today I would say that there is a growing but slight chance that we might see Willie back before the deadline (or practicing with the team by then). Its a sort of outside thing but possible. If that happens then we might make a move to make space for him.

I also have now heard that Greene could start practicing as soon as the end of next week if everything keeps going well.

We could make a move to make space but I don't see us doing anything major. Not that I think we should but then never say never I guess. I did hear that we pulled out of the Iginla talks due to the price tag but I don't think DL ever says never. I do but thank god that DL is our GM and not me.

L.A. wanted T.J. Brennan?

Brennan is an AHL stud, not so much in the NHL. But if we were the middleman it had to be a bigger deal.

Yep, it wasn't over Brennan. That said, it doesn't mean that a bigger deal wasn't looking possible and in the end the other two teams just saw a little potential to make something else happen.

RR was a decent pickup for the Kings needs. Greene coming back will be huge.

Our biggest need is for Quick to step up once again.

Kings are top ten in both scoring and Defense.

I like those numbers going into the playoff's.

Team just has to step up now.

We will see. Hoping for us to be great again. But from the trades and other teams this year. I am doubtful, just am. Our top 6 is too questionable for my liking imo

I'm sure many people were except the laid back people who don't really care about anything.

Better that than hummingbird-ing it from one "get Cup quick" scheme to the next.

Teams were upgrading their forwards, and we upgraded our defense. If we REALLY wanted to play the "on paper" game, I'd call it a wash.
