People who want to tank and want to just trade away our players for"cant miss prospects" aren't real fans at all. Anyone who thinks its a GOOD idea to trade away Kessel ... I don't even know what to say. The guy is a beast, the fact that people harp on the guy and he STILL puts up points means that people will just never get over that trade regardless if we win 5 straight cups or not.
Of course he fits on this team,anyone who says otherwise doesn't know hockey. We wont need to worry about him walking if we bring in a couple guys to help out. If we have a #1 goalie and a center and we become more competitive people are going to want to play here. Why risk throwing everything away for 1 player in the draft

I think the media is doing a similar job to Kessel as they did to Bryan Mccabe.
Kessel is so underrated. All people see is "Bad defense". He's the NHl poster boy for it like Mccabe was. The fact is, there are so many forwards that get no criticism for being one-dimensional that are. In fact nothing about Kessel's defense was mentioned in Boston by the national media.
Face it, this was a guy who was supposed to be garbage without the NHL best passing centre and now he finished 6th in league scoring with the polar opposite of a centre. And "One-dimensional" my ass! He's one of the elite passing wingers in the NHL.

Disagree with that, IMO Nash is really over-rated by most people. Despite being drafted so high by columbus he has only topped 70 points once in his career, the rest have been 50-65 points, while they're decent totals they are nowhere near elite. Nash I wouldnt say is a bust but he sure as heck isnt elite either, very good player but not a star and far from it.
How TSN still had Nash as the 24th best player I'll never know. He was such an invisible player all last year. He's so overrated.

Agreed! Kessel is more then just a sniper, he also has a very good imagination out there and he is a very good passer as well, not to mention his speed alone backs the oppossition off and creates chances for his line. Kessel will never be confused with someone who is good in his own end but then again look at most great offensive players, they flat out stink defensively, the only thing a coach can ask of Kessel is that he puts in 100% effort in his own end.

Kessel is a great player but to be a cup contender with the core on this team a top flight center in needed. You need a kessel to win the cup but a guy with his skill set isnt your center piece. Maybe Getzlaf

Ideally, our best player would be a guy who can be relied upon in all situations. Also, that guy should be a player who can raise his game at big times and in big games.
As of right now, Kessel is a one-dimentional play who shrinks in the biggest moments of a game.
Disagree with that. Boston in '11 won the cup without having a #1 centre, LA won the cup last year without a true #1, heck even NJ made it to the finals without a #1 centre. Tha main ingreditent is goaltending, to win the cup.

Kopitar is #1 centre. And i'd argue Chicago won the cup with terrible goaltending

LA had one of the best centers in the world in Anze Kopitar. They also had a borderline #1 center on their second line in Mike Richards.
Boston didn't have a great #1, but they did have two borderline #1s in Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
