6th in Kings scoring
Captain of two cup winning teams
Tough as nails

I don’t see the issue

Lot of banter in this thread about how 61 points isn't anything special. Do you know how many Anaheim Ducks have had 61 point seasons in their 29 season history?

One. Ryan Getzlaf, and he did it in 2017-2018, the same season as Dustin Brown.

Okay **** and Zegras had 61 last year too, but it felt a lot more Jon Bois-y when it was just Getzlaf. Perhaps one day all three guys will have statues?
Uh you're proving my point.... Do those players have statues?

And I don't get your first sentence have you heard of Kariya, Selanne, Perry, etc? You're kidding right?

Your right. I apologize for my misguided opinion. I’ll try this again. Putting a statue of d.brown is the equivalent of tampa putting a statue of s.stamkos. Neither were instrumental to their respective teams cups success, but good players on those cup teams and captains for their entire careers with the same team.
Stamkos is a way way better player than Brown. With many individual and team awards under his belt.

Magic (best PG ever), Gretzky (best hockey player ever), Kareem (leading NBA scorer of all-time although LeBron will pass him this seaosn most likely), West (Literal NBA logo), Shaq (Most dominate player in NBA history), Dustin Brown

Kobe doesn't even have one yet... :(
No basket player should have a statue since it's barely a sport. Anyways, Marcel Dionne is more worthy of a statue than Dustin Brown.

A wax figure could be better. Then you could do the same for other members of the team and every 45 minutes you could have some animation like with the Hall of the Presidents at Disneyworld/land.

Captained them to their first 2 cups in team history

Wasn't even a top 5 player on that team

I don't care about it really, I see why they're doing it because he wore the C. But IMO Quick/Doughty/Kopitar should get statutes if they're giving one to Brown.

Yeah, it’s pretty embarrassing if you ask me. I am not trying to hate on Brown at all, I just think he himself must think it’s more than a little odd to be getting a statue beside some absolute giants of sporting history.
he gave them two cups...

Now I want them to make a statue of Dwight King just to watch Ducks fans heads explode.
They should do that. Jokes on them lol It's the offseason and free agency "frenzy" is over.

Where's the option to also name the street running outside Staples/Crypto.com arena Dustin Brown Way?

My Best-Carey

That's already Chick Hearn Ct. so that's never gonna change, and rightfully so

However there IS a nearby street running between Olympic and Chick Hearn where you're liable to get blindsided so that's probably an appropriate Dustin Brown Way

I love Brownie, but this statue isn’t just about him. We had a 45 year streak of not winning a Cup. He is the first player in a Kings uni to lift it overhead. It’s the most important moment in team history, and even if he’s not Wayne or Luc or Kopi it was him wearing the C when it happened.

But given this thread was made in the name of petty internet banter, I’ll once again mention that Brown at his best rustled the opposition’s jimmies, holy cow has he done to this board without even trying.

Well that means that Tavares should get a statue if they win a cup.

Which would be hilarious.

I'm farily certain they plan on renaming the whole area around the stadium Brown Town.

^ As Ducks fan; I don't think his play warrants a statue, but this is of course Kings organizational decision and if the fans love it, then f*** it, go on and f*** what anyone else thinks.

A jersey retirement is more appropriate IMO, but overall I don't really care.

Well he did lead the 2012 playoffs in points.

I actually didn't realize that, actually pretty impressive. But Kopitar/Doughty/Quick/Carter/Richards/Williams were all more important and better players than Brown imo

This could be the thread title, honestly.

And no, Kopitar/Doughty/Quick were better. The others were important bit Brown, in 2012, comes in at 4th at worst and he's likely up there just behind Quick if Mike Smith doesn't baseball his knee in the WCF.
