Does Crosby’s point-per-game streak end this season?

I straight up said it was a great season for a 37 year old. But to say he's dominant this season is a complete lie.

Agreed - but also largely irrelevant to what I said. He isn't 'dominant', but he is having a great season for his age.

Probably on the goalscoring aspect, agreed. But also irrelevant when the discussion is around what HAS happened.

Great that his expected stats are great, but his ACTUAL /60 even-strength stats are not 'dominant' (as per my initial assertion), and his ES goalscoring is terrible (offset by great ES playmaking).

40th in ESP/60
260th in ESG/60
(8th in ESA/60 to be fair)

5v5 on ice expected goals against/60 = 3.18 (2nd worst on his team, 28th worst in the league)
5v5 on-ice goal differential = +2 (217th in the league)

Crosby is good offensively at even strength/5v5 this season (definitely not a beast), and he is terrible defensively at 5v5 hockey.

Point being as I said in my comment (which clearly stirred up a lot of Pens fans) -> Crosby is having a great season for his age, and is still good. But he is not 'dominant'.
Another 1G 3A game tonight

Still more than Ovi Kuznetsov.
And he's wrong .Sid won 2 Con Smythes

Crosby with 12 points in his last 6 games, on pace for 89 now. Looking like another 90+ point season is very possible. Guy is playing incredible after a lackluster start to the season.
All depends on team strength. The Penguins have just gone 9-3-1 in their last thirteen games, which means the top guys did well. Prior to the current "streak", they were 7-12-4, and Sid had 21 points in 23 games.

I highly doubt the Pens are going to keep up the pace of the past thirteen games, so I think the most likely scenario is that Sid gets about a point per game the rest of the way, with some up and some down. In any case, he's aging well (so far).

Ppg the rest of the way gets him to 85. Considering he scored 94 and 93 the last two seasons and on pace for 89 now, yes 90+ is certainly very possible. Nothing remotely farfetched about what i said.

I find myself checking the Penguins box scores every other night to see if Crosby racked up a point.

Hoping he can pull this off, 20 straight PPG+ seasons is an incredible feat of consistent elite performance.

Considering his peak was cut short by injuries, this would be a really impressive accomplishment to hang his career on.

Then new question should be, will Sid end the last 45 games of this season with 2 ppg? :)

I have been doing it for ten years now :)

I promise MJ didn’t watch a single minute of that series.

I'm a Capitals fan and you think I didn't even bother to watch the Pens play the Caps in the playoffs?

Sidney Crosby was a complete passenger and recorded a paltry 2 secondary assists in 6 games while being a defensive liability.

Dude, I think the time has come for you to quietly exit these threads. I mean, I give you credit coming back time and time again under the heaviest of heavy scrutiny for the worst of the worst takes but honestly, if Sid upsets you this much - stop clicking the thread.

At this point, I can comfortably say that more people support the flat earth theory than your takes in this thread. And quite frankly, they can conjure up better arguments. I am more inclined to sit across from them and have them tell me about ice walls of Antarctica than listen to why 37 points in 22 games is not over 1.0 ppg or whatever mental gymnastics you are using to say Sid didn't deserve the CS in either Cup year.

Is it not enough to already be known as "that guy"?

I hope that the Pens make the playoffs, which seemed impossible at the start of the season really.

Sometime in the new year he will pass sakic and be 9th in all time scoring and then Mario will be next.

Mario 1723
Sakic 1641
Crosby 1635

So sometime next year he will become the Penguins all time leading scorer should be quite the night if he does it at home.

Crosby was a inch or two away of a disallowed goal for offsides from a 5 point night.

Dude has been on fire the last week or so. Almost every shift the 1st line had last night created scoring chances.

What a legend.
