Does Bruno Have the Goat Pictures

It's telling that Bruno's job is clearly on the line and we've combined for, what, 9 shots in the 1st period between the Isles and Rangers games? The team obviously (and correctly) does not want to fight for him.
I think it speaks to more than just Bruno. Despite how much they all talk it up, the roster and organizational culture seems to be trash. Sure, the coach sucks and should be fired, absolutely, but that alone doesn't explain and excuse the number of garbage efforts we've seen this year in particular. Clean it out.

Wait, not the culture? But it was custom-built to perfection!

All I'm saying it will be damn hard to sell the idea of Brunette to the players going into next year. I can't recall a single incident where a team has bottomed out and tried to "head back into contention" with the same coach the next year.
We had a good stretch that 1st season. Let's do it again in the 3rd season.

We're just a couple lucky bounces away. :sarcasm:

I see a world where we lose some players who demand out and still fire Brunette in season

Porter my man, do you really believe Trotz would value any opinion other than his own?
I believe he does, the problem is it is the same voices that have been in the Preds organization for decades. The Poiles are still there. Nichol is still there. Kealty is still there.

The problem is we have kept the same people steering the ship. Nothing has changed.

The predators have needed to blow things up since 2020 but keep doubling down.

I could see it if all of O'Reilly, Stamkos, and Marchessault said versions of the same thing.

Of course, some of our internal guys like Smith, McCarron, Lauzon, Sissons might say they really really like Brunette please keep him. :D

Hopefully they would do these interviews 1-on-1 with just the GM, though. I could imagine a scenario where it's 1-on-2 with both Trotz and Bruno sitting there, which would thoroughly torpedo the process. :help:

Having worked in the exit interview world, the optimum would be have a third party conduct the interviews and keep the data anonymous and report on the results. It assures honesty with no retribution.

He gives me more minutes than any sane coach would. Please keep him

I don't think that's optimum in this situation, no. Because Trotz definitely WOULD be able to dismiss those kinds of anonymous results. He'd probably just assume any criticisms came from the kids he doesn't like. He needs to hear from the lead horses' mouths in this case, because it's not the aggregate opinions he would value, it's very specifically those of the narrow group of his perceived cultural leaders.

Or he’s listening to guys like McCarron and Smith who get a ton of minutes and would hate to move on from coach Bruno

Depending on the relationship the players have with Trotz will dictate their responses. If they’re in a safe space they may be honest, they may not. If they’re not in a safe space, they most certainly won’t be honest.

Why would Stamkos, Marchessault, O'Reilly pull any punches even if Bruno was in the room? They have their cash, and their Cups, so they shouldnt have any reason to hold back. And why wouldn't Trotz, having invested so much in signing them, listen the what they have to say?

To do otherwise is hubris in the extreme.

But I'm not holding my breath

I do kind of hope they'll let it rip. They've already alluded towards questioning his coaching decisions in public comments.

I don't know, if I was in the room with my direct manager and his boss the division head, I definitely wouldn't say things the same way about my manager as I might if I was talking without him there. I mean, it's more just a matter of being polite about it? I don't have a $40M contract or a Stanley Cup ring, mind you, but I feel like even if I did, I would definitely hold back from criticizing a guy to his face with his boss present. :dunno:

Trotz should definitely listen to them either way. But I just can't see these guys slagging Brunette quite the same way with him in the room as they would if he wasn't in the room. OR, if they did come up with criticisms with Brunette in the room, it would give Brunette ways of pretending that he'd constructively deal with those criticisms next season - hm, yes, good point Stammer, we'll try a different PP arrangement, thanks - which may or may not be BS, but it would probably give Trotz an easier out in terms of keeping Brunette if he was allowed the opportunity to immediately spin and deflect and promise to address anything the players bring up. :dunno:

Anyway, who cares really, I'm fully expecting Brunette back, so whatever they do or say probably doesn't really matter. :help:

If I had a guaranteed contract for the next 2-3 years that guaranteed me 30-40 million dollars, I wouldn’t give a crap if my bad boss was in the room or not, I’d scorched earth his ass. What’s he gonna do, take away my birthday? I’m guaranteed rich, nothing he can do about it.
