Does anyone find it boring with the same result as last year?

The rematch in the Cup finals, I dont mind. What I do mind is the Oilers played the same 3 teams, in the same order, leading up to their potential SCF. If the Oilers make the Finals, I dont want to presume, then they will have faced the same four teams in the same order.
They didn’t though. Last year they played the Canucks in the second round.

To be honest, no, I don't find it boring. I find it intriguing. I usually stop watching after the beloved Leafs are out of the playoffs but I would watch a Florida/Edmonton final.

I thought there was supposed to by parity in the NHL. Yet we had the exact same final 4 matchups as last year. And now we have the same cup finals matchup as last year as well.

Are the Panthers and Oilers just THAT much better than everyone else? It just seems like you can skip the playoffs and wait for the finals. There aren't any upsets any more.

I don't know, it just seems boring to me. I would have liked to see some new teams do well. But it seems parity is gone.

Get better

I wouldn't say they're that much better than everybody else. That would mean they had a breeze to the final. Those teams fought hard to get to the final. (West still to be determine). If it's not your team I can understand the boredom with the same results. For fans of those teams they don't care.

Florida seem to be on Another level in the east. Things are closer in the west and Edmonton could actually have gone out in the first round against LAK when they didnt Get any help from the goalies and the defence was weak. But they threw it away in game 3 and 4 where they where outplaying the Oilers. After that Edmonton found their game.

Florida goes 7 and is on another level but Edmonton going 6 could have gone out, okay

This post makes no sense lol

Well, states with not taxes definitely have an advantage. Plus, Florida attempts to kill one star player a series.
Ceases to amaze me how there's always at least one piece of nonsense used as an explanation for why the current dominating teams are dominating.

Pittsburgh? Draft was rigged
Detroit? Money
Florida. No state tax
Montreal. First dibs on French players

Could it just be that the nature of the game is going to see one or two teams dominate during a given period of time? No ad hoc conspiracy theory needed to explain it?

I understand, Florida is a scary team to face in finals especially now that they will get a much needed rest and will have some of their injured, bruised players heal. Their D is stacked, their forwards group is stacked and they have Bob in net. Not surprised to see them in the finals for 3rd year in a row.
Yup.. elite as hell. Fantastic team.

You wouldn’t want to have been a fan from 1965-1979 (15 years) where Montreal won 10 cups, Boston 2 cups and Philadelphia 2 cups.

Boston and Philadelphia were 2 back-to-back wins and the rest Montreal straight wins multiple seasons. Imaging being a fan of the other NHL teams during this period.

It’s just boring teams. Who can really get excited about Florida, Edmonton, Carolina, Dallas

That last Canes-Panthers game was great. It's just too many teams are poorly constructed and are playoff-fodder. I think if the Blues advanced past the 1st they would have made it more interesting. The East was settled a while back (well... Tampa exiting early didn't help).

Personally I'm not bored at all. As long as there is exciting hockey to watch then I'm fine with it.

As many have pointed out already, it seems a lot of people don't understand what "parity" means.

I will add though.. I have no interest in watching hockey in June unless it is a team I care about. Eg. Dallas vs Florida could happen and I would barely tune in. Or Carolina vs Dallas.

All awesome teams but I don't care for hockey in mid June unless it's my team or a really intirguing story (eg. if Leafs made finals, I'd watch!).
