This will suffice for nowStill haven't explained why you dislike them![]()
They're the Ed Hardy t-shirts of goalie masks.
he is not suited for making art on goalie masks in my opinion. His work is too detailed in a way and it has way too much going on in it. I have a feeling that if he actually toned it down a bit, it could actually look decent.
They look kind of tasteless to me, I prefer simpler and more minimal designs.
They're the Brett Ratner of goalie masks.
People always go on about "herp derp the goalies asked him to do it like that" except they probably didn't
What probably happens is they sit down with him, give him a list of images they want. Take Lundqvist for example, he'll want his usual statue of liberty on the side and maybe "HANK" or "RANGERS" on it somewhere and number 30
Then DaveArt goes nuts and is all like "OOH AND I CAN ALSO DO THIS AND THIS AND THIS AND MAYBE MAKE IT GLOW IN THE DARK LIKE THIS AND LENS FLARES EVERYWAAHHH" and the goalies just smile and nod and are like "sure, whatever"
All of these are really good.

See, to me that just looks a pitiful, overdone attempt at replicating Hebert's mask.

He didn't say you weren't entitled to an opinion, he just said that your opinion is irrelevant. So, since we don't own the mask, we shouldn't be able to have an opinion of if we like them or not?
My opinion; they have too much detail which makes them hard to read from 20+ feet away.
He does not use the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid)
Hit or miss for me. Had to unfollow him on Instagram for over posting. The glow in the dark stuff is dumb. He can get carried away with it.
I must confess I honestly had no idea his work was so hated until I saw this thread. It's a little busy, sure, but, meh. Doesn't strike me as being overly ostentatious or evil or whatever. This reaction seems a little extreme.![]()
My biggest issue with DaveArt is that I don't understand why he needs to add the Lens flares all over the place.
The masks are already coated in glossy paint. They will already pick up reflections from the lighting in the stadiums. It makes no sense.
