Kirkland, Montreal
A. Carrier 4 hits , +1 , 19:39 TOI
K. Guhle , 1A , +3, 4 BS, 21:29 TOI
L. Hutson , +2 , 2 BS , 19:07 TOI
M. Matheson , +2 , 4 shots, 2 BS, 22:33 TOI
D. Savard, 2 BS , 19:12 TOI
A. Xhekaj, 3 BS, 1 Fight, 4 Hits, 16:07 TOI

Finally, something that like 'looks' better than bottom5 Defense
Not overplaying Matheson by 6 minutes
Lane Hutson PP1 time 1:30, Matheson PP time 0:30
Guhle thriving at LD finally, dream partner in Carrier, 2nd pairing that can easily crunch 20 mins
Xhekaj going from 10 mins and struggling to 16 and SHINING, his improved play is a small reason the team has looked much better recently as well

Were not there yet, and need to see where Reinbacher fits (Replaces expiring Savard), and who else they get at RD after you trade Matheson

But finally were not DYING out there on defense god
(Also not to pour it on too much on poor Preems, but he alone cost us like 3-4 games.. that's 6-8 POINTS in the standings ffs!, we had to make a change so TY Kent)

Watching the Highlights, Dobes seemed pretty damn solid!

Also, the first Habs goal, a Panthers player had Laine lined up to take down but chose not to leading to our goal. It essentially happened cause the player had pitty on Patrick. At his age, he must learn to protect himself. He is so easily exposed. Rusty, maybe?

MSL making some strides also........the doling out of TOI is a huge thing and it's on the coach.
Good job, today Marty

Agreed. Was worried a bit with X at the start of the year but he's been a pillar in our recent resurgence. As long as he plays physical and defense and sometimes uses his hard shot (without killing possession) he will have a long NHL career. With Hutson and Engstrom doing great in Laval he won't need to be a puck carrier in his prime.
But….we have to have someone dropping the gloves when a team is getting too liberal with their bodies. I’d love to have Deslauriers back in Montreal. The perfect 4th liner and he is relentless with the fists….and boy he can sure take a punch.

Yah they should have won that game
Or at least one point….

If he had some leniency from the press, it’s fading. The “Tabarnouche” (translated perhaps by “Fudge?) is not quite “Tabarnak” (f***?) but shows an inkling of fight. I think he knows the honeymoon’s over and he needs to get his shit together.

Really??? You don't think that it's about the GM finally giving him a more veteran team to coach? Hughes didn't replace Laine when he got injured, finally moved for a veteran D and finally sent Primeau to waivers. These are GM moves not MSL.

Too much of the blame went on MSL. GM basically left him out to fend for himself. No coach would of been able to win with 5 D's 23 and under and only one RD.

What's not to like ?

Dobes with a shutout in his 1st NHL game
Dach scores 2, Newhook with 2 assists.
Caufield and Evans continue their respective great season.

In the Last 20 games, the Habs are 11-8-1
Scoring at a rate of 3.25 goals per game, ranked 8 in the NHL

If that 2nd line can get going even if it's for half the games left.....could be huge.
And there's also Carrier that keep stabilizing that D-squad on top of it.

It sucks, cause Primeau inability to stop a puck this season cost the Habs about 3 points and with those points, we would be breathing in the neck of the wildcard spots (Not to mention Laine's injury)

I know exactly what he was doing but you can send a message without dropping them you tell the f***er I'll get you when I'm fresh.
Greer wanted to get Dobes off his game. It had to be dealt with on the spot, IMHO. Dobes can easily get rattled and go ballistic as we saw him do many times in Laval. Nipping it in bud enables all parties to move on.

I think having Laine on the team with him has ignited him
Small sample size. He’s more the guy he’s been over many seasons with the Habs than the short term guy on a Finnish broski kick.

Maybe re-assess at the end of the season.
