If pld costs Kakko and 8m. I’m out
If pld costs a first and nils, and is around 6m or so I’m very in. We’d also likely move Chytil in a secondary move to free cap and get another asset in return.

Rather have McDavid but if its PLD or Copp or Pld or Chytil than I think PLD is a improvement in multiple ways.
No moving Kakko for pld is a terrible sell low move.
Look at the Fiala trade as a benchmark.

It's price and length. If he is only an option for 2 seasons because he wants to play in MTL, then it becomes very unenticing.

it'll take either Chytil or Kakko, and either Schneider or Lundkvist, I would imagine. It really does come down to cost here and I'm now torn because I think Dubois is a perfect fit and could end up being much better than he already is but is it the right risk for this team to make at the moment? I've felt a "blockbuster" on the horizon for almost 2 years now involving the departure of guys like Kakko or Lundkvist but is Dubois the right win-now trade to make? J.T. Miller seemed the more likely candidate but maybe Drury really is envisioning Lafreniere and Dubois being a lethal mixture. Dubois would have no shortage of elite wingers to play with, I almost forget how good he looked alongside Panarin when he was in Columbus.

Are people seriously thinking this is a good idea after watching Val Nichuskin this playoffs? Power forwards take time, Kakko is no different. I would rather move a player and sign Kadri than this nonsense.

Kakko as a base for PLD is a great deal.
Only thing I don’t like about the proposed price is the 1st round pick. You need those to keep the farm strong and bolster lineups at deadlines. I think Kakko and Lundkvist is plenty. Maybe a 3rd round pick or a lower level prospect or something. Not a 1st.

I'm conflicted, but leaning no. I think it's a very easy trade to mess up the trade value for, and he doesn't have a lot of term remaining

I want to keep Kakko, for sure. I also wish we didn't put his future in jeopardy by continually demoting him to the 4th line and inexplicably scratching him in our most important game.
Fact is, we may be in a position where we need to move him - either due to trade demands or impending offer sheet. Moving him now may actually make considerable sense. I wish it didn't, but we may have made our beds here.

iI doubt they have interest in Chytil but who knows.
Id rather have a 3C problem than a 2C problem. That spot can be filled via trade or cheap UFA. Maybe even someone within the club like Rydahl.

My gut feeling is Rangers would want to work out a contract extension beforehand and this might be good for the Jets since they would get more out of a trade
