Do you think any NHL players, coaches and/or GMs are here reading/posting hfboards.

I suspect Boyle reads it. For media and franchise staff /GMs it must be the quickest way to get news, or at least rumours? (Especially those that cannot be verified:)

The Boyle family sat in the row in front of me a few years ago. I knew it was them because his younger brother looks exactly like him. Every time I see someone posting so passionately about Boyle's contributions to the team, I picture his younger brother typing away behind his computer

Busted...

If media personnel do read these forums how come they never ever mention anything about it.

HF has been mentioned in the mainstream media many, many times. On TSN, ESPN, etc. Puck Daddy mentions us pretty regularly. Bob McKenzie has a "verified" account here. He called someone an ass hat one time! There are a couple other guys that I know of that post or lurk, but don't do it publicly.

There are a lot of radio guys and columnists (especially those who started off as bloggers and transitioned to MSM) who post here and mention it occasionally. It's really not that amazing when you consider the readership and membership that HFBoards has. You'd be a fool not to take note if you're in the media.

Player 1: "Hey, dude, I was googling you the other day ..."

Player 2: "And?"

Player 1: "And apparently you're being traded to the Oilers in exchange for a bag of pucks."

Player 2: "Interesting. Did you know you're going to the KHL next season?"

True story.

I think Sather had to read the HF boards, otherwise why would he sign Hank for 7 more years? He gave people what they wanted.

That's really funny actually.

I wouldn't expect legitimate news sources to admit to reading the boards, really.

Well, with over 1 million threads and 123k registered users, this is a very significant piece of the NHL fanbase. And tbh we have some posters here with a serious grasp of both grammar and hockey knowledge. It makes way more sense to aknowledge this place exists, and its actual significance to the popularity of the NHL. Rather than view it as a insignificant place where drunkards congregate.

Just look at all the Norwegians who flocked here, where else would they have gone to discuss Taylor Pyatt.

As has been mentioned, there are a number of media personalties, scouts and former players who lurk around the boards. As for why they don't post much, could you really see yourself wanting to talk to the people around here if you could call up notable hockey minds to talk shop instead?

I don't understand the difference.

Well, there's one way to find out.

Hey! JT Miller! If you read these boards, do that little fake to your forehand next time you get a partial breakaway! You know, the one you did by accident when you nearly lost the puck on your first NHL goal, and have tried at least once a game ever since? Yeah, that one.

Yeah. That will prove it.

Absolutely, plenty. wouldn't you read a fan forum if thousands of people were discussing your work too?

anytime you hear an announcer or writer say "some feel.." or "people are saying" or the like, you know they were probably on hf.

Pro's read this site. Out of the ones I've met, mostly front office types. I've met some of them before/after games, guys who are into the scouting game, pro or amateur, and that include guys who have worked for the Rangers.
