I get the sense that much of the unwavering support for Dubas comes from those who desperately want him to prove that an unqualified little kid from a no-name Ontario university can be an NHL GM by relying on stats and numbers like "puck-possession time" and "expected goals".

If he can be "successful" with his inexperience an limited credentials, then surely someone who wins their fantasy hockey pool or built a back to back champion in NHL21 is also qualified to be an NHL GM just like Dubas.

As oppose to you, the uhh.. guy who writes threads on hfboard

Their top 4 forwards are too soft. And yes, a fantasy league manager might actually do better. I don't see what was so special about Dubas. Guy has hardly any work experience on his resume. I'd can him in a heartbeat.

I am see myself as the male lead in porn.

Honestly, Dubas done some good things as GM. and like all GMs, Dubas done some questionable stuff too.
As of today, Dubas is a nobody GM b/c he has not win a Cup or a round in playoffs.

Most of your fav GMs are nobodies too cause they haven’t won cups. Don’t let that change your narrative tho

He has won more playoff rounds than Dubas and that counts for something.
Right now the Islanders are in the 2nd round, and we are golfing.................again.

Experience counts!

I swear people who get excited for first round wins never won in sports growing up. Never seen myself or any of my buddy’s excited about losing in the semis.

Is this thread really necessary? Are we trying to divide the regular posters on this forum?

Dubas should be judged by his actions, and I don't think an individual's age or academic background has anything to do with it.

I'm a generation Xer and a white collar professional, and I still advocate giving Dubas another chance based on his moves over the past season.

I guess I'm an outlier based on the rationale of this thread.

Sorry I don't blame management or coaching for this shameful performance. Nor do I blame the depth, defence, or goaltending. They all did their job and put this team in a position to win in 5 games.

Matthews and Marner did not do their job, not even a little bit. Nick Suzuki had a better playoff than those two combined.

Looking to blame someone, blame them.

I find myself in the middle.
I liked Lou, I didn't like Lou
I like dubas, I don't like dubas

(Like, as in things they did)
I also don't understand why some people decide to pick one side and hate the other. We have dubas now. If he gets fired and we get better cool, of he stays and we get better cool.

No I agree with entirely.

I feel like there are people who are personally insulted by Dubas for some reason and I do not really understand it.

Just shuffling bottom 6 guys around, again, won't make a lick of difference. Can he do something actually major?

this is such a condescending garbage thread. get a grip.
maybe people like him as a gm because they like what hes done for this team?

1st the marner golfing thread, now this.
people are legit mental.

I really want to hear the excuses this year.

There is nothing they can say anymore.

Mitch and Auston are more than ready and flopped.

They will say their feelings were hurt because montreal was mean....

dubas will hold heart to heart with players; they will group hug and cry on each others' shoulders and jackasses like mirtle/johnston will tweet/print "look how awesome"

Omg this is hilarious.

It's true, which makes it even funnier. LOL.

You have to wonder about the collective Fantasy Hockey club who are undying supporters of Dubas. Perhaps Masochists?

Where did it all go wrong for the Maple Leafs?
TSn already pushing the agenda of the free dubas staying for REAL WITH THE LEAFS FOR LIFE! HE AIN'T DOING NO MISTAKES NEVER! SIGNING 40MIL ON 4 players or nothing. Not bringing in the wrong coaches. Malhotra was a great PP coach :biglaugh: ETC. KEEFE. aaahhahahahahaha GOOD JOB TSN AND THE WORLD!! I LOVE IT! I LOVE LIFE! Whats next for keefe is the question for tsn. he ain't going, mowhere.

I don't understand it either OP.

After Matthews and Marner's first seasons, if you told me this is where we'd end up a couple years ago, I'm sure the fan base would've agreed back then to fire this clown. However, he's got some sorta unconditional support despite no results. Our cap is terrible, our pick situation is terrible and we've been bounced in the first round 5 straight years. The team has peaked with no means for improvement.

Dubas wasn't even your average guy. Nepotism got him the gm job with an ohl club, and shanny took a risk in hiring him and that backfired. This isn't some wiz kid hard working genius. Just a guy who got lucky via nepotism and f***ed our bright core.
We’ve drafted I believe 30 players in the past 3 drafts. We had 12 picks past draft. We were heavily represented at the world juniors. Criticism of our lack of picks in one draft is the definition of cherry picking

all the trades, signings, ufas and their cost (we can compare to their real numbers)
