I remember reading here that his career was mostly done and people laughed at these contrats Habs gave him.

I don't know why, he doesn't get any love really league wide, he might not be as dominant as he used to be, but he's still a top dman in this league imo.

There is a lot of praise for Price league wide. Markov has been huge for this team.

Has been healthy for the past seasons and honestly might be playing better than Subban. Very underrated defender.

Between 2009 and 2012 he had played a total of 65 regular season games. At the time it was hard not to consider him injury prone and high risk. Luckily he's been doing great since 2012.

If he gets injured in the coming week, HF mainboard threads officially have too much power.

Seems like this should be on the Habs board. Also, it just annoys me how Habs fans come here expecting everyone to praise the Habs. Let the talking in the ice do the job. Its doing just fine.

That said, as long as he's gonna be healthy and have decent enough speed, he'll be a good NHL player. He's just too smart, great active stick and good outlet pass. Has great puck poise. Also, from 24CH, while he's not a vocal leader, he's a no nonsense leader on the ice. Gives instructions and when paired with PK on the PP, seems like he's the one telling PK what to do (from what I saw on 24CH).

He missed quite a few games during a 30-month stretch.

But otherwise, he's been quite durable.

He's not at all Lupul-like, to take one example.

Glad he has been healthy. He is a really great player. Like him a lot even though I am a Sens fan. So smart. I bet he gets another contract and is around for quite awhile still. Lots left in the tank when his biggest asset is his brain and hockey sense.

Hasn't he played the most games out of any current Hab consecutively since coming back from last injury someone mentioned it on 690 post game after the Bruins

The guy is fine wine...Mother Russia

They're a perfect pairing but Subban is very quietly having a sick sick year hes soooo much tighter in our zone now he was incredible in the last 2 minutes of the Bruins game

Subban is miles better than Markov, seriously come on people. Markov is still a fantastic #2D and does things a lot of other players can't do, but Subban takes over a game. Not comparable.

Better yes, but not miles better.

It's still remarkable what Markov does. Leads all Habs D in takeaways, plays 24:47 min per game (50 seconds less than PK), solid defensively and has produced well enough offensively. He could approach 50 pts this year.

Considering all those things, he is still a #1. He and PK are a solid 1A and 1B duo.;)

Why? Are we not allowed to point a finger on Subban's weaknesses? He has some. Mostly on the defensive side still.

PK Subban is playing the best hockey of his career.

Better than his Norris season.

He's playing against the top line and in every situation. (including Penalty kill)

Markov is a top 30 defenseman, which is very good. Subban is top 5. Once again, not comparable.

Markov had like a 3 year stretch where he hardly played, outside of that he has been remarkably healthy.

He can be a bit prone to fatigue when it comes to the playoffs though.

If he wasn't doing that in his Norris winning season, that really says a lot about the award.

lol..

Subban was not getting pk time that year because he was used so much 5 on 5 on the pp. Habs had other guys that they can use to they didn't use Subban, even though that previously in his first 2 years in the year he had been the Habs top guys on the pk unit, which was 7th and 2nd in the year those two years.

I'm guessing your saying it should have gone to Suter that year, because he played all those pk minutes, even though their pk unit was one of the worst in the league...lol

Better defensively by far than Subban. Could have lost some speed but damn he is smart and effective like Lidström was.

Simply not true, Markov is still a top pairing dmen but he simply can't carry anyone, when Subban was paired with Gorges, Markov was playing with Emelin, and they had their good games but also their struggles.

Subban was done just fine without Markov but Therrien put them together to make it easier for Markov.

Markov 24-25 minutes playing with Subban has become a lot easier than his 24-24mins playing with guys like Emelin
