Do we have a legitimate shot at another cup?

You get some hot goaltending, mixed in with some balanced scoring, and steady D, you have a shot. Right now, even though we are in first place in the division, I don't think this team is anything special. It's been a whirlwind at D, I don't think the Kings will get any sort of upgrade on D at thr trade deadline. We might get someone, but an upgrade? That will be debatable when it happens. Most likely another body that just struggles to fit in, like Ehrhoff and Schenn. I believe McBain has adjusted as well as he possibly could, but DS cringes at his lack of physical play. He does provide some good PP minutes, which the Kings could have used in the last game against the Devils. In the end, I think they are probably one of about 7 teams that could win the cup. I don't think it will be s bonus winning the division. It will just make the first round difficult, which they could lose to a team like Nashville.

I don't get this. I'd rather face Nashville in the first round than SJ or Anaheim.

Kings secret weapon ........ Sutter , having a coach who knows what it takes to
win in the post season is HUGE (tm) .

The Kings are 8-8-1 since the Lecavalier trade, and only Kopitar has more goals in those 17 games than a 35 year old who basically hadn't played all year. I don't know if a thread posted within the last 24 hours is the source of the curse or bad mojo.

Please leave logic and reason out of this freak out session

We've been .500 since New Year's. I think a jinx thread will cause a shakeup in either direction which is good :D

Without a doubt. I think people underestimate this defensive group. It's a thin group for sure, depth isn't an asset the Kings have on the blue line but it's a solid group with a lot of playoff experience in the top four. Like others have said if Quick comes to play as he always has during the postseason the Kings will find themselves in a very good position. The only teams that I think could get past the Kings in a seven game series are Washington and Chicago. There are some bubble teams like the Stars and the Islanders that certainly give the Kings a run for their money. I really believe that anything less than reaching the Cup Finals would be a disappointment.

2012: Acquire Jeff Carter from Columbus = Stanley Cup
2014: Acquire Marian Gaborik from Columbus = Stanley Cup
2016: Acquire Fedor Tyutin or Scott Hartnell from Columbus = ???

I don't think our current .500 play says anything regarding whether we can win the cup. The level of play rises to a whole different level during the playoffs. During the 2012, 2013, and 2014 playoffs the Kings were able to shift into a different gear than how they were playing during the regular season.

I am confident that we will do well in the playoffs because the Kings can still play their puck possession/cycle in the offensive zone style of play. That is the key to our playoff success.
